Ways to use these stories with children
These stories will help children understand how the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering helps missionaries. They are written for older children (Grades 4-6), but we’ve included a printable version of each story to use with younger children (Grades 1-3).

Ways to use these stories with Children

  • Download, print and distribute or read the stories to your children's class or group. Talk about the story and how your church's giving might help that missionary.
  • Display the photos and bulletin inserts in Sunday School classrooms. Watch the videos.
  • Use the EXTRAs to involve children in the stories, like the Give What Ya Got activities pages included with the Business cards story, the recycling activity included with the Thinking inside the box story or schedule a Hide and Seek on the Get Your Kids Involved page in this year's Lottie Moon Christmas Offering Children's Leaders Guide.
  • Set a Lottie Moon giving goal based on a missionary dollar need featured in one of the stories. For small dollar items, consider increasing your giving based on multiple units of an item used by a missionary (for example, 8 hours on the mission field x $4.71/hour = $37.68). Display your giving goal with a bulletin insert of the story, plus its photos. Track giving toward your goal each week and include that as part of your display.
  • Bring Lottie Moon's story to life using the video, ideas and children's sermons found with the Lottie played dress up, too! story in the 2008 Children's Stories archive.
