GARDEN CITY, CHINA. Thank God for liberating Ms. L from a debilitating mental illness, then drawing her to faith in Christ after her miraculous healing. Since her recent conversion, she has boldly proclaimed the name of Christ to any and all who will listen! Pray that the Father will empower this precious servant to win many more souls for the kingdom.
SOUTH TOKYO, JAPAN (TOH-kyoh). Working with the homeless in Tokyo requires a lot of time and a willingness to travel to various locations. Missionaries Josh and Grace Parks have been doing this ministry and have now begun training new leaders for small groups in parks in the Yokohama, Ueno and Yoyogi areas of Tokyo. The large weekly worship service every Saturday morning usually sees approximately 90 homeless men and a few women. A Japanese pastor had been preaching weekly, but now needs to spend time twice a month with another ministry. Volunteer teams from the United States who come have been helpful with songs and drama, but someone with a Japanese language ability is needed each week. Josh is asking for prayer that just the right person will answer God's call to step into this ministry. Giving out clothes, as well as weekly bread and coffee, is also a part of this ministry, requiring someone who can go by a store to pick up the donated bread. Pray for this need to be met quickly, as Josh and Grace continue to encourage the formation of small groups with trained leaders all around the Tokyo/Yokohama area. Pray that these who have so little will respond to the One who has so much to give, including eternal life! southerntokyo@japaneseneedjesus.org
CAFE (ColombiA’s Forgotten Ethnos) PEOPLES (cah-FAY). The city is a long way from home. For some, home is the jungle, for others, it is the dessert, and for still others, it is the rolling hills of the countryside. Some come from very hot places and others from areas of the country where it is very cold--but they come. They come with the hope of getting an education and with the desire to help their people group in some way. They all share one thing in common: The city is cold, they feel alone, it is noisy and strange in the city, they have few resources, they have a poor basis in their educational backgrounds . . . and they are open to something different. Team CAFE writes: "In the past two weeks, we have received 10 new students at the student center. Initially they come because of the hot-lunch program, but they find more than food. They find a second home where they can study, receive a hug, get academic help, and ask all of the questions on their hearts. Many of them are open to exploring the question of who God is and what He requires of man. Pray for the many new students that we have this semester. Pray as we build relationships with them that will develop into opportunities to share the Gospel. Pray that they will be open to the Gospel message." brenlar@kastanet.org
AMERICAN PEOPLES. Megacity strategist John Pham asks you to pray for the beginning of a new Bible Academy in the south part of Lima, Peru, focused on providing accessible, deeper, seminary-type biblical training for church planters who have finished the 15-week church-planting class. “This is being taught and organized by our national team members of CRECER. Please pray for DN and DA as they begin the first course, and ask that many church planters and leaders will be able to attend.” CRECER (translated GROWTH in English) is a church-planting movement in Lima led and perpetuated by Peruvian churches and believers.
