(for the week of July 21)
JAPAN’S CENTRAL MEGACITIES. In April, people began praying specifically that God would provide opportunities for witnessing along the Osaka Loop Line, a major train line in Osaka City. God has already answered those prayers. In July, a new missionary family will move into a condominium located on the southern end of this train line that encircles the city. Pray for this family as they build relationships with Japanese near the Tennoji train station. At the opposite side of the circle at Kyobashi train station, missionaries and Japanese nationals have been prayerwalking and sharing their faith with young and old alike who gather around the station. Two missionary units have also moved to condominiums near this station. At other stops along the line, prayerwalking routes are being prepared for volunteer teams who will come to Japan to pray for the millions of Japanese who travel on, live near or work along the train route. Continue to pray that God’s Spirit will draw many to Himself, and that this will become a “Gospel train” carrying God’s Word from station to station.HUNGARY. As is true around the world, it has become all too easy for believers in Hungary to let their spiritual lives become stale and ritualistic, and for differing opinions and traditions to isolate them from other Christians. The vitality of the church and the love we have for one another will make a huge impact on spiritual seekers who are watching. Please pray that Hungarian believers will surrender themselves wholly to the Lord and His service, and that they will learn to put aside secondary matters and work together to further the kingdom. http://www.heartforhungary.comDEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF THE CONGO (DRC). “We read a statistic in a local newspaper saying that 68 percent of the sick Congolese who visit a doctor have a water-borne disease,” writes the Congo Team. “This information inspired us to start a project to build a water filter factory. This will allow inexpensive water filters to be sold to the Congolese. We will train trainers to sell the filters and make three home visits, at which time they will instruct the new owners in the methods of using the filter and making sure it is cleaned correctly. Oh, yes--it will also give the trainers a chance to tell the owners about the living water Jesus wants to be to them. Pray that those who purchase a filter will receive clean water as well as the living water from Jesus Christ (John 4:14).”
