One year later: Earthquake survivors still need help
Rebuilding has been slow for earthquake survivors in Pakistan, but their biggest fear is another quake. Southern Baptists have concluded earthquake relief work in Pakistan, but continue to help through projects that spun from the initial quake relief. How can you pray?

Speaking of missions
Missions by the Book: Jesus uses what a child has to offer
"Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many? ... Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish." - John 6:9, 11, NIV
Quotable: How much was that coffee?
"Globally, the average Christian gives 15 cents to foreign missions each week. The average North American believer gives 50 cents; the average European believer, 25 cents. How much was that cup of coffee before church?" -- missions researcher Justin Long, quoted by Erich Bridges in "As U.S. population tops 300 million, is American church still a global force?"

Adam Wems*, a Southern Baptist who serves in South Asia, and his wife work among 7 million lower-income Hindus in a major city. Following a recent worship service, Wems helped local pastor Atul* pray for adults with problems such as financial issues and sicknesses. A little girl approached with her mother and father. Atul listened to them, then translated into English, asking Wems to pray that God would heal the girl of "fears." At least that's what Wems thought he said. Knowing that fear is common among Christians in South Asia, Wems immediately asked God to take away the girl's fears and help her know how much He loves her. As he prayed, the girl's parents smiled. A week later, Wems and his national partner, Bhanu*, visited Atul, who came running up to them and exclaimed that the girl had been healed. "You prayed for a little girl with epilepsy," Bhanu said. "She was healed of fits." Confused at first, Wems suddenly realized the girl he had prayed might be healed of "fears" had been healed of "fits" instead. "Now, I am quite sure Jesus never prayed the wrong prayer and still had a healing," Wems said with a smile. "God is great," Bhanu said, as he knowingly shook his head.
