| David
the Baptist
Sent into the Zambian bush to study Bemba, missionary journeyman
David Kizziah faced some tough days. On one particularly frustrating
day, he took a walk in the rain, questioning God about why
he was there:
“At
that very moment, I kid you not, a Zambian man stopped me
and asked me, ‘Are you David, the Baptist?’ Dumbfounded
I muttered, ‘Yeah.’
“He
then went on to tell me how he and a few other evangelicals
had been meeting every week to study the Word of God and seek
His face on how they can spread the gospel to surrounding
villages. He then asked me if I would come teach them the
following day. I have never been so smitten by the visible
work of the sovereign hand of God in my life ever before.
After our conversation I went straight to my room and in broken
submission praised God for the awesome fact that His purposes
stand and He makes no mistakes.
“What
ensued is something I will keep in the safety deposit box
of my heart till the day I die. For the remaining four weeks,
twice a week I taught about five men the Word, tried to answer
their hungry questions as best I could, and engaged in fervent
prayer for the souls of their neighbors whom they were broken
over. ... Praise be to God for this incredible privilege of
being His ambassador and having the joy and being poured out
in service for others!!”
