Four Southern Baptist workers slain in Iraq

Southern Baptists are mourning the loss of four aid workers — Larry and Jean Elliott, Karen Watson and David McDonnall — who died March 15 after a drive-by shooting by unidentified assailants in Mosul, Iraq. David’s wife, Carrie McDonnall, also injured, is in stable condition and is being evacuated to a military hospital in Germany.

Larry T. Elliott , 60, and Jean Dover Elliott, 58, from Cary, N.C., had served with the International Mission Board in Honduras since 1978 and transferred to the Middle East in February.

Karen Denise Watson, 38, of Bakersfield, Calif., had served in the Middle East with the International Mission Board since March 2003.

David E. McDonnall, 29, and Carrie McDonnall, 26, of Rowlett, Texas, began serving with the International Mission Board in November.

Love and obedience
