Quotable: “They made a difference …”

“I can't believe that people we know would be so faithful — even though they are half-way around the world. They made a difference in the life of a village.” — Kellie Burnham, volunteer missionary from Kosciusko, Miss., serving in Kenya

Crying out to God for the lost

One of the key reasons the church in China is growing at a phenomenal rate is prayer. A Christian worker serving in China observed that Chinese believers in her realm of ministry don’t focus on praying for themselves and their personal needs when they meet together for worship. They focus on praying for the lost, praying for the workers in the fields and praying for other Christians around the world. And as they pray, they cry out to God with their voices and with the tears running down their cheeks. Many Chinese Christians fast as well, spending two hours at a time kneeling on concrete floors as they pray earnestly for God’s kingdom to come on earth. The worker said, “It is my heart’s desire for people back home to really pray with this intensity, to really cry out to God on behalf of the lost.”

Read more stories of what happens when Christians pray. Share them with your church as you prepare for the Week of Prayer for International Missions Nov. 28-Dec. 5.
