Group Focus:
Quechua
of Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia
Descendents
of the ancient Inca empire are still alive today in the Andes
Mountains of Peru and their people, called the Quechua ( Kach-oo-ah
or Keech-oo-ah ) extend into Ecudor and Bolivia, too. Most Quechua
people have never heard the gospel in their own language - not
the Spanish language, but in Quechua, the language of the Inca
Empire. Who are these mysterious, hard-to-reach people and why
has the gospel never reached them? Find
out more . . .

Sharing the gospel in
a country that has been on the news for terrorism is hard enough
in itself. But what do you do when you need short-term mission
teams from the USA to come and help you when the volunteers have
heard the poor public relations press "your country" has received?
Here
are thoughts from a Christian worker in just that predicament.
Parents'
desires vs. God's
" I wanted to be a part of something that has eternal value."-Loni,
California Baptist University student who went last summer to
Italy to work with Kurdish and Muslim refugees from Iraq
Sept. 11th left many students feeling skittish about going overseas
for summer missions. College students wondered how they were supposed
to honor their parents' desires and yet remain obedient to God's
call to GO to all nations and share their faith? Still God used
a group of students from California Baptist University to reach
out to hundreds of Kurdish and Muslim refugees from Iraq in Italy
last summer.
Hear how one of those students made her decision to go.
Comic
Relief: "Flying
Blind"
A friend
was flying from Seattle to San Francisco when, unexpectedly, the
plane stopped in Sacramento. The flight attendant explained
that there would be a delay and if the passengers wanted to deplane,
re-boarding would begin in 30 minutes.
Everybody exited the plane except one blind gentleman. My friend
could tell the man was blind because his Seeing Eye dog lay quietly
underneath the seats in front of him on the flight. He could
also tell that the gentleman had flown this very flight before
because the pilot approached him and called him by name, saying,
"Keith, we're in Sacramento for almost an hour. Would you like
to get off and stretch your legs?"
The blind guy replied, "No thanks, but maybe the dog would like
to stretch his legs."
Picture this:
All the people in the gate area came to a completely quiet stand
still when
they saw the pilot, wearing sunglasses, walk off the plane with
the Seeing Eye dog! People scattered, trying not only to change
planes, but also to change airlines!
Moral of the story: things aren't always as they appear.
Bible
Study: Jesus'
Spin on "Harvest Fields"
The concept of a harvest
field is a funny thing - it's biblical, but so subjective. What
is a harvest field, anyway? Is it a place in the world where
people are responding to the gospel and coming to know Jesus?
Yes is the short answer, which agrees with our popular
concept of a harvest field, but a harvest field is not only a
place of high response and openness. Jesus called some surprising
places harvest fields and if we are to reach all peoples of the
world with the Message, we must understand what Jesus meant when
he called a place a "harvest field." Read
