Welcome to Stateside Assignment Resources
(Sponsored by Stateside Assignment Training Department)
Definition and Purpose
The stateside assignment is an absence from the position and place of specific missionary appointment
for a designated time period. It is a shifting of geographical location, not a change in the appointed
missionary responsibility. It is an extension of missionary ministry rather than a “vacation.”
The purposes of stateside assignment are to:
- Mobilize our constituents to join in the accomplishing of the Great Commission.
- Personalize missions by giving firsthand reports of what He is doing on the mission field.
- Cultivate networks for the purpose of prayer support, volunteer enlistment and personnel
recruitment.
- Renew one’s self physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
- Gain new skills and knowledge in preparation for future service overseas.
Reporting to the churches sometimes requires pushing on the door of opportunity to get it open. A “letter to the editor” of your state paper will let people know you’re home and ready to share.
Contact with your associational director of missions may provide easy access to churches.
All nations whom You have made
Shall come and worship before You, O Lord,
And shall glorify Your name.
Psalm 86:9, NKJV
