Home School Workshops at the Missionary Learning Center
Throughout the year there will be opportunities to participate at the Missionary Learning Center in Home Schooling Workshops either in conjunction with Orientation or times surrounding certain Stateside Assignment Conferences. Your Personal Development Funds can be used to cover your travel expenses. Linda Phelps, Director of the Missionary Learning Center's Children and Educational Resource Center will be teaching and facilitating the workshop. Linda served multiple terms as a missionary, home schooling her four daughters. She has a wealth of experience and knowledge to share in these settings. Overview
The Home School Workshop is for you if you will begin to home school your child or need a refresher course in the “how-to’s" of home schooling on the field. How to get started, how to choose curriculum and other practical fundamentals of home schooling are topics covered along with "hands-on” time to do individual, self-directed research in the Home School Resource Room. In addition, individual consultation will be available.
Learning Objectives
- Grow in your confidence level to Home School by examining the "how-to's" of home schooling on the field
- Discover the multiple variables that must be considered when choosing the “best” curriculum fit for the family
- Learn the basic curriculum “types” and be able to identify the best curriculum match for your family at this time
- Examine the major components of learning styles and identify which major styles fit you and your child
- Identify where your resources can be found and the process for acquiring what you need to do the job
