To advance their careers, Devlin and her husband moved from a small community to a medium-sized town, then to the capital of their home country, Zimbabwe. Unfortunately, a failing economy made it impossible to maintain their catering business and preschool. The couple decided to make another upward move—this time to one of Africa’s biggest cities, Johannesburg—to improve their family’s quality of life.
