Construction on Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France, began in 1163. Notre-Dame de Paris means “Our Lady of Paris.”

The Gothic-style spire collapsed during the devastating fire that began on April 15, 2019. The spire was eight hundred and fifty years old.

The Catholic church is a national icon and beloved by the nation.
