Indian Women

These images were taken at Diwali on the Square in Trafalgar Square, downtown London. Millions of Hindus, Sikhs, and Jains celebrate Diwali which is the Festival of Light and celebrates victory over evil, a renewed life filled with health, wealth, happiness and prosperity. The word Diwali in its full form means row of lamps. Diwali is also a celebration of the commitment towards creating a better world and community to live in. This was the festival’s sixth season and was sponsored by The Mayor of London/City of London and helps celebrate the diversity within the city of London. Thousands came to participate in the festival, which had dancing, singing and food. London is one of the most culturally diverse places on earth. Whole neighborhoods and communities in London look like they are lifted directly from the Middle East or South Asia.
