Pope Francis Greets the Crowd

During this part of the Mass, Pope Francis rides around St. Peter’s Square in the popemobile and greets the people who have come. This is the center piece of the major Masses. Many people have come just to see the Pope in person. His celebrity and his position as the Vicar of Christ and absolute head of the Catholic Church is revered by Catholics. According to Catholic doctrine, the Pope has full, supreme, and universal power over the whole Church, a power which he can always exercise unhindered: that, in brief, the Pope enjoys, by divine institution, supreme, full, immediate, and universal power in the care of souls. On this day the entire Roman Catholic faith focuses on the Easter Sunday Mass on St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican City in Rome, Italy.
