Local residents enjoy food, drinks and each other’s company in a row of Halal food stalls in an alleyway adjacent to the historic Haroon Mosque in Bangkok. “Halal” means “acceptable” under traditional Islamic law and refers to food prepared in accordance with the Qur’an (the Muslim scripture, sometimes spelled “Koran.”)
