2025 Deaflympic Games Tokyo

Reach hundreds of Deaf from around the world who will meet in Tokyo this November for the Deaflympic games.
Deaf people from across the globe will converge in Tokyo this November, offering a unique opportunity to connect and proclaim the gospel.

The 2025 Deaflympic in Tokyo, Japan, will host 6,000 Deaf athletes, staff, officials, and referees from 80 countries and regions. Thousands more Deaf spectators will join them to cheer and witness their loved ones compete. Many of these athletes and spectators lack access to the gospel in their home countries, yet they are coming to a place where you can introduce them to the good news of Jesus Christ.

Your gift will provide evangelism resources and cover other one-the-ground costs to effectively share the message with the thousands of Deaf people who are lost. Your support is vital!

International Mission Board missionaries are prepared to engage the thousands arriving in the city for the Deaf Olympics. Your generosity will ensure IMB workers are present for the entire event, sharing the gospel with as many Deaf people as possible.

Our ultimate goal is for the Deaf to embrace Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior and grow as disciples in their respective countries. To that end, your IMB missionaries are partnering with Japanese Deaf churches, which will integrate new believers into their local congregations.

In addition to on-the-ground evangelism, your gifts will implement an online gospel-sharing strategy to reach thousands more people watching the events from their homes. You can take the gospel into their kitchens and living rooms by sponsoring online gospel ads.

Through giving, God will use you as an instrument of grace to transform the lives of Deaf peoples. Join the mission and give today!

Deaf Peoples

Deaf and hard-of-hearing peoples live in an invisible world of stereotypes. More than 200 distinct sign languages have common roots that enable the Deaf to communicate cross-culturally, but most in the approximately 70-million-person global Deaf community have never seen Jesus's name signed. Often ignored and oppressed, the Deaf are some of the least evangelized people on earth.

Deaf communities comprise nearly one percent of any urban center. Though on the surface they are often indistinguishable from the hearing population, their differences in language and culture often result in their oppression. They find more common ground with other Deaf people—even those from other cultures. Across cultures, the Deaf share one great need: They need Jesus.

The gospel is for all people, and the Great Commission is for every believer, both hearing and Deaf. Ask God to raise up Deaf and hearing believers to embrace the limitless opportunities to take the gospel to Deaf communities.
