Helping a Mother have a Safe Delivery

Nary’s* access to women’s health care was limited. Miles from any doctors or clinics, she only knew what her sister and mother told her.

When Nary discovered she was pregnant, she and her new husband were elated but terrified. Her sister had recently had a miscarriage.

That’s where you entered Nary’s story!

Nary is one of 40 pregnant women receiving prenatal checks, vitamins, healthcare instruction, clean water, counseling, and the love of Jesus through your generosity to this ministry. Recently, she gave birth to a healthy baby boy and became a believer!

Visits with these pregnant women include special times of biblical teaching to help them understand their value in their Father’s eyes.

After their pregnancies, we continue healthcare education with women throughout their reproductive years. Thanks to your sacrificial gifts, we discuss childrearing and critical developmental milestones with another 175 women in four provinces throughout the country.

Maly* and Sok* are expecting their first child, welcoming their tiny bundle of joy into a Christian home because of your generosity. This couple is part of an unreached people group (UPG) that is difficult to reach geographically and spiritually. When our team offered to conduct a health class in their village, this couple graciously invited us to hold it in front of their house, even though they only dreamed of a baby. Maly was barren due to malnutrition and advanced age; nonetheless, they invited pregnant neighbors to attend the class. During our time together, we shared the gospel, and both accepted Christ.

Little did Maly and Sok know the new life they would find when they became believers. It was a huge surprise to them—but not to our Father—when Maly discovered she was pregnant. Because of your gifts, we provided Maly and other pregnant women in her village weekly checkups with blood pressure monitoring, prenatal vitamins, and a delivery plan. These are considered a luxury for mothers in this community due to poverty and distance from healthcare.

What was once a health class has become a church, as women brought their families to hear the gospel and be discipled. Thank you for making it possible for communities to be transformed physically and spiritually as we help mothers have safe deliveries!

Thank you so much for your generous support of our team and the Asian Pacific Rim people God calls us to reach. In the rural areas of our region, most women live in poverty with little access to healthcare. As a result, few know how to raise healthy families. Because of your gifts, community health teachers trained to share the gospel go regularly to rural villages to teach twenty or more pregnant ladies a Bible teaching and pregnancy lesson. Each lady who attends receives weekly prenatal checks, vitamins, clean water, parenting classes, safe delivery at a health center when the time comes, and many opportunities to hear the good news.

Multiplying teachers. In addition to traveling regularly to teach, I also train other women to assist these ladies and share their faith. Because of your generosity, we have had the resources to enter two new provinces with health education and the gospel.

Increasing impact. Your partnership has enabled a Christian couple to move to an unreached area that has no church presence. They met with women in four villages, sharing their faith, teaching about safe pregnancy, and meeting physical needs. God has blessed their ministry, and we have seen whole villages transform from malnourished to healthy, and sick children are becoming healthy. We also have seen the gospel spread through these women to their families!
