These shots were taken at Herodion National Park, located about three miles outside of Bethlehem. Herodion is recognized as one of Herod’s “most ambitious building projects.” During Herod’s reign, the complex served as a summer palace, capital, burial ground, fortress and monument.
The stones pictured here could possibly have been used as ammunition during the Bar Kochba revolt or other conflicts.
