Man with a Zebibah

An Egyptian man with a prominent zebibah, or ‘prayer bump,’ on his forehead. This mark on some Muslims is due to repeated contact of the forehead with the prayer mat during daily prayers. Egyptian Muslims consider the presence of a prayer bump to be a sign of religious dedication and piety.
