Scala Sancta

Scala Sancta (Holy Stairs) in Rome is a popular pilgrimage site for Christians. It is believed to be the stairs that Jesus climbed on His way to his trial before Pontius Pilate. Out of reverence and devotion, people will climb it only on their knees and in silence. The stairs were brought to Rome in the 4th century. IMB Photo
