# International Mission Board (IMB) > The International Mission Board (IMB) is a Southern Baptist Convention missionary-sending > agency headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, founded in 1845. IMB mobilizes, sends, and > supports thousands of missionaries across 110+ countries to share the gospel, make disciples, > and plant churches — with a strategic focus on unreached and unengaged people groups (UUPGs) > where Jesus is not yet known. IMB is one of the largest international Christian missionary organizations in the world, funded primarily through Southern Baptist churches via the Cooperative Program and the annual Lottie Moon Christmas Offering (LMCO). Key terminology: "Unreached people groups" are ethnic groups where less than 2% are evangelical Christian and there is no indigenous church capable of evangelizing the rest. "Unengaged" means no church or mission agency is currently working among that group.
