DESCRIPTION
Students will help teach ESL among refugees living in SE Asia and help organize sports/fun days for children in those communities as well. Students will then take those relationships from ESL classes and sports days to the next level by visiting in homes and sharing Truth with them. There will also be opportunity to meet people in the streets, shopping malls, etc, befriend them and share hope with them. Students will assist at a refugee school in the A community on a weekly basis. Students will also plan & implement English camps during the summer as well as a few sports days throughout the summer. Students will be expected to follow up with the contacts they make from the ESL classes and sports days, invest in these families and share Christ with them. In addition, students will be encouraged to meet Persians living locally, befriend them, and share with them. When contacts they meet are interested in learning more, students can start meeting reguarly with these contacts to study the Bible more. Your first stop will be a joint orientation with other Nehemiah Teams at the Nehemiah Teams Training Center in Mentone, Alabama. Learning the skills needed to carry out your assignment as well as team building will fill these first few days. Your team will fly to your final destination for the summer. Following your summer of ministry, you will return to the US for a joint debrief... sharing all God has done over the summer. Participants must commit to the entire program from orientation through the end of debrief.
