DESCRIPTION
Scattered across nearly half of the globe is the area known as Oceania or the South Pacific Islands. The gospel came to this vast region over 200 years ago, but there are still pockets of lostness. Your team of 2 guys will travel by planes and boats to help find & verify if specific people groups still need the gospel. Specifically you will be tasked with finding and researching the deaf peoples of these areas. Knowing American Sign Language is preferred but not required. This will truly be a great adventure…with eternal purpose! You will work alongside a project 3000 missionary, helping him for these 2 months to expand his bandwidth across this vast area. This assignment will not be easy. Wanted: only those willing to carry a cross! You will be nomads for 7 weeks, living out of a backpack, not knowing where you will be sleeping or eating…and because of this, you will see first-hand God’s help and South Pacific hospitality. Your first stop will be a joint orientation with other Nehemiah Teams at the Nehemiah Teams Training Center in Mentone, Alabama. Learning the skills needed to carry out your assignment as well as team building will fill these first few days. Your team will fly to your final destination for the summer. Following your summer of ministry, you will return to the US for a joint debrief... sharing all God has done over the summer. Participants must commit to the entire program from orientation through the end of debrief.
