DESCRIPTION

Students will be working in a city which has less than .01% believers. With 142,000 University students, that means statistically there are fewer than 150 believers among them. What type of student is needed? We are looking for outgoing, self-starting young people who are confident in who they are in Christ and are willing to humbly follow their master in seeking those who are far from him. We need students who like to meet new people and try new things. We typically use sports, English and games in our weekly activities, but have also seen students use music, art, surveys and other means to reach fellow students. Students here can be anywhere from 18-30 years old so it is best for volunteers to have completed one year of university study and having completed two years or more is preferred. Our plan to mentor the student volunteers: Our team provides several opportunities to make sure the students are adjusting to ministry well. We have long-term personnel that will supervise them, and we will pair them with journeyman personnel that will be able to mentor them and help guide them in ministry. For our interns we provide a weekly team meeting that will offer a time to debrief and talk about the work they are doing and guide them in any areas they need more support. Our desire is not just for them to help us advance the Gospel here, but for this to be a lifechanging experience for them where they are challenged and equipped to better serve the Lord on their campus when they return home. Living, Food, and Transportation Arrangements: The students will stay in the student dorms associated with the main university. They will room exclusively with other US interns and have private bathrooms. Local food is very inexpensive so they will mostly eat in restaurants/street food or potentially cook in our community center. They will use bus passes to get around the city. Students can expect to do lots of walking.
