A man in Khiyam, Lebanon, sits on the front porch of his house that was destroyed by Israeli rockets during the war between Hezbollah fighters and the Israeli army. Most of the homes in Khiyam, which borders Israel, were destroyed due to the many Hezbollah fighters who based themselves in houses to fight Israeli soldiers coming across the border. The 2006 Lebanon War reached a cease-fire on Aug. 14, 2006, but not before causing $3.6 billion in physical damage across Lebanon.
