Several historic and iconic monuments rise out of the Parisian skyline: the Eiffel Tower, spires of Notre-Dame Cathedral, and Les Invalides’ gold gilded dome that houses the tomb of Napoleon. Crowds of people travel over a bridge crossing the river Seine, France’s third-longest river. It extends 485 miles from Dijon, France, to the English Channel. The river has been the subject of many famous Impressionist paintings, including Monet’s Bathers at La Grenouillere and Renoir’s Seine River at Asnieres. Les Invalides is a complex of buildings in the 7th arrondissement of Paris, containing museums and monuments, all relating to the military history of France. The complex is also home to a hospital and a retirement home for war veterans, which was the building’s original purpose. It is also the burial ground of Napoleon Bonaparte. His tomb lies beneath the distinctive and most recognized gold-gilded dome in Paris. IMB Photo

Decades ago, some families in Ghent, Belgium belonged to the Catholic church. That older generation’s children turned from the church. Now the 20–30-year-olds in the area have no idea about the Bible or who Jesus is. IMB missionaries call this generation, “pre-Christian.”
