Lottie Moon, pictured in 1907 with missionaries Ella Jeter (left) and Jessie Pettigrew (right), served in China for nearly 40 years. Weakened and ill at the end of her life, she died in 1912 on a ship in the harbor of Kobe, Japan. A monument the Chinese erected to her memory inside the walled yard of Tengchow Baptist Church in 1915 stated simply, “How she loved us.”
