Uighurs of Northwest China

(WEE-ghurs) - The Uighurs of Northwest China live in the most watched place on earth. Pray for them today as they live under these stressful circumstances. Pray that they will realize that God cares and watches over them.

South Asian Unengaged Peoples

Pray for the Malaneese residing in the Himalayan Mountains in the state of Himachal Pradesh in North India. This is an isolated people group, and they are closed to outsiders, but currently, there are near-culture people sharing the gospel among them. Please pray for more near-culture gospel seed sowers to engage this group with the good news, and pray that the Malaneese will have eyes to see, ears to hear, and hearts open to the truth.

Peoples of Rhine, Rühr, Main River Areas, Germany

(RYN, RUE-er) - Winter in Germany is mostly dark and rainy. Christmas markets and the lights bring cheer in December. The predominantly Catholic areas host four days of parades in February for "Karnaval." Some of the parades are kid-friendly, but most are not. After all the parties and barhopping is over, winter depression often sets in. Pray that Germans will realize the temporary excitement of the next party isn't fulfilling. Ask for opportunities to open so that local Christians and IMB team members can connect with those who are searching for deeper meaning. Pray that more Germans will realize Jesus is the one who fully heals and brings lasting joy and real, abundant life. "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly" (John 10:10 ESV).

Pakistan

Pakistan is home to more than 230 million people! The vast majority are Muslim, with a less than 1.5% Christian witness residing in the country. For the gospel to be shared far and wide in Pakistan, there needs to be local ownership of that task. Pray that Pakistani followers of Christ will count the cost to follow Him, that local churches will multiply and grow in health, and that local leaders will be developed with a goal toward kingdom advancement. These are truly things that only God can do.

Muslims of China

The Salar, like the Hui and the Dongxiang, are very intentional in teaching and reminding their children that they are different from others around them because of their faith in Islam. Many children attend classes on the weekends at the mosque to learn about the Quran and to study Arabic. Some even attend schools set aside for Muslim minority students. Unfortunately, while it is often emphasized that there is one true God, these students and children don't learn about the God of the Bible and His Son, Jesus, who loves them so very much and died for them. Pray for the Muslims of China to hear the good news of Jesus and to learn of the one true God of the Bible.

Mountain People of the Horn of Africa

To visit his family, Saul takes a bumpy, three-hour taxi ride from his city. He then walks another three hours to get to his family's home. This is a very common scenario among the Mountain People. However, due to unrest in the area at this time, it's unsafe for friends and family who are separated to travel to see each other. Many Mountain People cannot even talk to their family members on the phone, and they are worried about their welfare. Please ask God to comfort these people who are worried about their loved ones. Pray for the ones in rural areas who feel hopeless and forgotten. Ask that believers in those areas will know that God sees them and loves them and is with them. Please ask that they will be able to share this good news with those who don't yet know God. Finally, please pray for peace. Pray that the roads will open and be safe and that friends and family will be able to communicate with each other again--both by phone and face-to-face. Most of all, pray that peace will bring even more opportunities for believers to share hope with those still in darkness.

Khmer of Western Cambodia

(kuh-MY) - Sophie is a young college graduate. She comes from a family that is heavy laden in financial debt, and she struggles to find a job in town. She once walked in faith with the local body of believers, but she's slowly drifting away. The temptations and lures of the world are pulling her away. Mature believers from the body of believers have reached out to her to encourage and bring her back, but she remains aloof and very disillusioned because of the financial burdens. She represents a group of Christian young adults who are struggling during the town's economic downturn. Please intercede that the believers, such as Sophie and her peers, will look to the Lord and come to Him in their time of need. Pray that their faith will not wither during trials.

Holding Firm Theology in Africa

Every Sunday, thousands of pastors are preaching in their churches to congregations full of people. As they listen, the people are hanging on to every word that they hear and believe it as truth without checking it out for themselves in the Bible. Pray for these pastors in Sub-Saharan Africa to preach the truth and not just what they think the people want to hear. Ask that they will know sound doctrine so they can speak the truth according to God's Word. Pray for those who are listening to the sermon to always check what they hear against what it says in the Bible. "For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions" (2 Timothy 4:3 ESV).

Deaf Peoples

As the end of the year approached, workers Jon and Nellie Valjean took time to reflect on the good work that the Lord has done in Southeast Asia. They share: "We are thankful for the Lord bringing people across our path to learn more about Jesus. We are thankful for the Lord sustaining three churches, partnering with us as we advance the Great Commission. We are thankful for the Lord bringing the three churches together to set up a theological training center." They are also thankful for how the Lord reaches out to you to pray for them, to support the work, and to partner with them. Rejoice with the Valjeans in how the Father has been working! Commit to pray faithfully for the lost Deaf around the world.
