Sara's brother in-law, Abraham, became a believer many years ago. When the family found out, they persecuted him. Sara recently experienced a medical emergency and reached out to her brother in-law for assistance after many years of separation. She and her husband were in a place of brokenness and needed help. When Abraham saw his family, they embraced, and he began to help Sara. Sara and her husband see a difference in how believers care for them and are open to hearing truth. Pray that as Abraham cares for his family, he will be faithful to share truth and their eyes will be open to Jesus.
There are millions of people across the desert lands of northern Africa who have not heard the Word of God. It may be that the Word has not yet been translated into their language. In cases where it has been translated, there are those who have never been given Scripture or who do not know how to read it. The majority of the people have simply had no access to God's Word. Please pray that this will change! Pray for those who are working hard to translate the Bible, asking that God will give them the stamina and wisdom needed as they seek to determine the clearest words to communicate God's truth. Pray for the completion of audio Bible recordings in more languages. Hearing God's Word is so valuable for those who do not know how to read or who come from cultures where orality is central. Pray for the peoples of the desert to hear God's Word and understand it through a personal witness, radio programs, social media, websites, and printed media. May they have dreams and visions of Jesus. Pray for their hearts to be prepared to accept and believe God's story that was written for their salvation.
(TWAR-eg) - It had been almost a decade since Turban and his believing friend, Ernest, had seen each other in person. They had kept in touch online over the years and always talked about, hopefully, getting to see each other soon. Then things fell into place, as Ernest was in the same city as Turban for the first time in a long time. Turban and Ernest spent an afternoon together, catching up on all that had been going on with their families and lives since they had last spoken. As they talked, Turban seemed softer. He was not quick to change the subject when the Father was mentioned and was more willing to listen to spiritual things. After several hours of reconnecting like cousins who would only see each other once a year, Ernest said goodbye to his friend. Please pray for Turban's heart to be softened and for Ernest to have more opportunities to share the gospel with him. Also ask that they will be able to see each other in person again soon.
The Mima people live primarily in western Sudan and eastern Chad. The Mima of Sudan are nomadic herdsman. They traditionally have moved from place to place, settling where they can find adequate grazing land and water for their herds. Long-lasting conflict in Sudan is affecting the livelihood of this population of 160,000 people. Many have been attacked, while others have joined the attackers. Where can they settle and find peace? There are few believers among the Mima people. Few of the people have heard of God's everlasting peace. Pray for them, in the middle of the horrific conflict, to hear the good news that God loves them and has a perfect plan for them to know peace with Him. Pray for them to have dreams and visions of Jesus calling them to Himself, and ask for near-culture believers to reach out to them. Pray for them to trust in God. "You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you" (Isaiah 26:3 ESV).
www.imb.org/adoptauupgReligion, culture, and identity are deeply intertwined in northern Africa. From birth, your identity and sense of belonging is connected to your parents' religion. Despite cultural pressures and persecution, some people hear the truth and their eyes are opened. They understand that following Jesus is worth sacrificing everything else. Pray for new believers, like Mary, who have taken the step to believe but are facing challenges. Her family has experienced sickness and other hardships since she made a confession of faith, and she fears that it might be spiritual punishment from evil spirits for turning to Jesus. She has distanced herself from the believer who was discipling her. Pray that her faith and the faith of other new believers will not be on rocky soil, but will take deep root in good soil so that "when distress or persecution comes because of the word," they will not "immediately fall away" (Mark 4:17 CSB).
