Worker Madeline Hawthorne and her husband, Victor, are team leaders for the Deaf work in Southeast Asia. She shares: "Our team is growing! We've had two new team members join us this year. It's fun to see the city and the culture through their eyes. Pray for these new teammates to learn the language and culture quickly. Praise the Lord that they have both found language coaches! Pray for them as they continue adjusting and for new friendships that are already forming."

Give thanks to God for a father and daughter who have started regularly attending a Deaf church in a Southeast Asian country! They are interested in the Bible and how it can guide them in their daily lives. Pray for the Deaf leaders of the church as they disciple them. Pray that this father and daughter will come to know the truth and love of God.

Worker Madeline Hawthorne shares: "We have been busy with college-age volunteers who joined our work in Southeast Asia during their spring break. It was so fun to see the city through their eyes! It filled our hearts, watching them encourage our Deaf college group to seek the Lord's face and to be obedient to Him, even though they are young. It was exciting to see how the college group responded to seeing their American 'peers' go and serve, realizing that they can go, too. Pray for other volunteers who will serve this spring and summer. We still need people of all ages to come and share God's love with the Deaf. Being a middle-aged mother of teens, I often have a hard time relating to college students or those who are retired. The volunteers were able to make an impact on the college students merely by coming and being somewhat close in age. Please pray about how God might use you!"

Those participating in a Deaf college church in a Southeast Asian country are continuing to meet and learn the Word regularly. They hunger for the Word and desire to share it with others. They recently attended a soccer tournament with the sole purpose of sharing the good news with attendees and players. They were able to partner with mature believers from the Northern Church, and together, they shared the good news almost 200 times. A semester student serving among the Deaf walked alongside the college church members, encouraging them to continue growing in spiritual disciplines. He has now returned to the United States but is praying about returning to the field in the future. Ask God to show this student how to proceed, and pray that the student will be obedient. Pray for the college church members to continue hungering for the Word. Lift them up as they attend a retreat to study what the Bible says about love and relationships. Pray for the Northern Church leaders who are pouring into the college students, and ask that the students will deepen their walk with the Lord.

Victor and Madeline Hawthorne, ministry leaders in Southeast Asia, heard unpleasant news about a Deaf Southeast Asian partner in a neighboring country. Their family traveled on Christmas Day to investigate the truth of the allegations. Christmas plans were interrupted, but God made it clear that they were all to go. Madeline was thankful to see how well Victor worked with everyone and to learn her way around. While it seemed wasteful for their whole family to go, it ended up being a sweet time for them to explore new places and serve together. In January, their student volunteer needed to renew a visa, and all planned options had closed except for a teammate and Madeline joining him on the visa run--to that neighboring country! Although Madeline hadn't planned to travel either month, God knew and had prepared her for the second trip. While there, they met with several Deaf attending a hearing church and also with about 20 Deaf who spent hours asking questions, trying to quench their thirst for the truth. They desire to start a Bible study in their heart language, so teammates are working on connecting them with local Deaf believers. Praise God for unexpected travels and blessings!
