Rohingya of Myanmar and Bangladesh

(roh-HING-uh) - Physically speaking, the refugees are suffering during this time of year. Bangladesh is always very hot and humid, but there are very few trees in the refugee camps to provide shade, which makes the conditions even harder. Mentally speaking, the threat of violence is constantly present. Militant groups roam the camps at night, looking for people to attack or to take advantage of. Spiritually speaking, some people have found Jesus amid the hardship, but there need to be more harvest laborers who are willing to show God's love in their speech and actions. Please pray for God to raise up laborers for the harvest.

Peoples of the Hadothi Region of India

(HAH-doh-tee) - Please lift up the district of Jhalawar in the Hadothi region of southeastern Rajasthan, India. With a population of approximately 1.5 million people and 1,615 villages, it is largely unreached and in need of the gospel. Pray that God will be at work in that district and that those living there will seek the true Savior who gives life to all who call on Him. "If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink" (John 7:37 NKJV).

North Africa/Middle East Refugees in the Diaspora

In May, you were asked to pray for Saabira, a refugee who was open to hearing more Bible stories from a believer after they'd had a good conversation about the meaning of Easter. Give thanks that the Lord has answered your prayers! The believer was able to meet with Saabira recently, and they talked about the story of Abraham sacrificing his son. The believer was encouraged by Saabira's genuine interest in the story. Saabira said that she really enjoyed learning stories about history, further validating that she believed what the believer was sharing. When the believer tried to make connections to Jesus and the gospel, however, Saabira would brush the comments away and quickly change the subject. Please pray that as these conversations continue, the Lord will soften Saabira's heart to the good news. Pray that the believer will be able to explore deeper why Saabira takes the other Bible stories as truth, but not the truth about who Jesus is. Pray that Saabira will believe the truth through faith and understand what Jesus said about Himself: "The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone" (Matthew 21:42 ESV).

Sub-Saharan African Peoples
Niamey, Niger

(NEE-ah-may) - In some rural areas of Niger, there are terrorist groups that impose a kind of tax on males 15 years old and older. If these males refuse to pay or can't pay, then they are conscripted to service in the terrorist group. This has led many in the rural areas to move to the capital city of Niamey. Please pray for the people of Niger who live in these rural areas. Pray for families in Niamey who want to help but are already barely making ends meet.

Kobe, Japan

(KOH-bay) - "This month, the Kobe team collected requests and ways they've seen God answer prayers over the last couple years. It can bring such encouragement to our hearts when we reflect on how God has worked in Kobe city and through team ministries. From a girl deeply wrestling with her faith and finally finding victory in God's grace to miraculous praises of answered prayers for healing, the Kobe team is reminded that we serve a powerful God. Praise God for his answers, and please continue to pray for mighty works to take place in Kobe. Please pray that more and more Japanese will be brought out of darkness into His marvelous light."

Honey People of the Horn of Africa

Moses encountered Jesus many years ago as he was working as a translator for some foreign visitors. His zeal for the gospel came at a great cost. He can no longer safely live among the Honey People. Despite the risks, he has faithfully pioneered the efforts to translate the Word into the Honey People's language. Recently, a few additional brothers and sisters from that people group have entered into God's kingdom and have joined Moses in translating the Bible into their heart language. During the COVID-19 pandemic when the world paused, these believers completed Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John! Now, just as a war has ended, the complete New Testament is ready to be placed in the hands of Holy Spirit-prepared hearts. Pray for Moses and the other Honey People believers working on the Bible translation. May they "not grow weary of doing good, for in due season [they] will reap, if [they] do not give up" (Galatians 6:9 ESV). Pray that God's Word will go out in power and "with full conviction" (1 Thessalonians 1:5 ESV) among the Honey People and that many will enter God's kingdom.

Deaf Peoples

Join Paul Yount, team leader of the Deaf work in West Africa, in thanking God as he shares: "Your prayers and support are critical to our work in translating the Bible and allows us to generate countless quality videos of Bible stories that Deaf West Africans can easily access. This is true because I've seen the results of this work. My team and I recently hosted a series of camps teaching Bible stories to Deaf West Africans where these videos were used. As a Deaf man attentively watched, he knew, as a Muslim, the risks of being a follower of Jesus but was nevertheless convinced of his need for Jesus. He quickly asked for and received baptism. He also learned from the same videos the importance of sharing his faith. Once the camp ended, he hurriedly contacted a Deaf friend and told him the stories he'd learned. His friend understood his need for Jesus! He was baptized and then went to another Deaf friend and shared the stories that he had learned. The Spirit convinced that man to trust Jesus for his salvation, and he was joyfully baptized! This is an exciting time, and I am thankful you are a part of it!"

Central Asian Peoples

Thank you for praying this spring as believers shared the gospel with Muslims who were making a pilgrimage to an historic site. The believers stated that they felt an openness that they hadn't felt in many years. There was no trouble from the authorities. The gospel was shared with 483 people! Praise the Lord! One woman came to faith while at the site. Many phone numbers were exchanged for further conversations. Please continue to pray for those who heard the gospel, asking that they will be changed by the power of God's Word.

Angola

In September, you were asked to pray for the Essanju Baptist Medical Center in Luanda, Angola. Give thanks to God that in the first three months of this year, more than 1,300 patients heard a gospel message at the medical center, and 20 people made first-time commitments to follow Jesus as a result of hearing the gospel there! Many others are now determined to become more faithful in participating in their local fellowships. Intercede for Pastor Marcos and the chaplains' ministry he leads, and pray for the medical center to continue to be a light for Christ in their community.
