Swahili-Speaking Arabs of East Africa

(swah-HEE-lee) - Women in the Swahili-speaking Arab community of East Africa are constantly being reminded of their weaknesses. Their culture reinforces a long list of things that they can't do: They can't go without an escort, can't live alone, can't use their educational degrees after they get married. They have very little power within the court system and can be divorced easily by the husbands. Second Corinthians 12:9 (ESV) says: "But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.'" Please claim this promise over all those who are weak. Ask the Lord to help them to see that they can find strength in Jesus and that His grace will supply all that they need.

Peoples of the Northern Mountains of Laos

The Lao Soung people, also known as the Tchaho people, are a distinct ethnic group in the most northern province of Laos called Phongsali, bordering China. The Lao Soung people, alongside other Mon-Khmer peoples, are some of the original inhabitants of Laos. They primarily speak Tareng, but many also may speak Lao. Their population estimates range widely from a few hundred to over 10,000. They traditionally believe in ethno-religious practices. As little as .50% have professed the gospel, with the majority of the Lao Soung people never having had the opportunity to hear of the good news of Jesus. It's believed that gospel conversion is equivalent to full western assimilation, potentially leading to alienation after becoming a believer. Biblical texts and resources have not successfully been translated into their heart language of Tareng. Please join other believers in praying as greater efforts are being made to spread the gospel further north in the country. Also, please pray that the LaoSoung people find peace in their identity in Christ alone rather than traditional spirit worship.

North Africans/Mid Easterners, Pastel City, France

About two years ago, you were asked to pray for Malik, a North African man who has heard the gospel clearly many times without allowing it to penetrate his heart. Malik describes himself as one who is "journeying closer" to accepting Jesus as Savior. He continues to meet with a believing friend to discuss Bible passages and periodically attends a Christian fellowship. Recently, Malik and his friend read Isaiah 53. He was amazed that Isaiah had predicted the suffering of Jesus about 700 years before Jesus' birth. They talked again about how to respond to the gospel in faith from Romans 10:9 (CSB): "If you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Malik has not yet taken the key step of personal faith and repentance because he is "waiting for a profound, internal experience . . . a revelation." Please pray that the Spirit will use all this information in his head to bring Malik to a point of surrender and personal faith. Pray that he will not be "always learning and never able to come to a knowledge of the truth" (2 Timothy 3:7 CSB).

Muslims of Northwest India

The believing families who have temporarily relocated to the city of "Sukun" this summer are hoping to have regular meetings with various brothers and sisters who have come from a Muslim background. Oftentimes, these meetings can be hard to nail down logistically and may even be canceled at the last minute. Pray that regular, in-person discipleship will happen with local brothers and sisters this summer. Intercede specifically for meetings with sisters coming from a Muslim background. Because they are running their homes and taking care of children, it is harder to find places and times for these meetings to happen. Pray that the brothers and sisters will value growing spiritually in community above the other demands and priorities in their lives.

Melting Cities, East Asia

Several churches in the Melting Cities are coming together to host a praise concert, gathering Chinese students and multicultural families. Among those attending, there are people who haven't yet believed in Jesus. Please pray that through this opportunity, they come to know who Jesus is and hear the gospel, leading them to accept Jesus into their lives. Pray for Pastor Paul as he delivers the message to communicate the gospel clearly and for those who hear it to accept Jesus.

Maputo, Mozambique: Capital City and Province

(mah-POO-too) - "As I talk with students," writes a Southern Mozambique Team member, "it is common for me to hear, 'Yeah, my parents are Christians, Muslims, or witchdoctors, but I don't really care about that stuff.' In Mozambique, the culture is shifting; students are turning away from their parents' traditions and are searching for something else. Pray that as students search for a new life, they will find new life in Christ. As they leave their villages and pursue community, may they find the community of Christ and healthy churches. Pray that students longing for new opportunities and a life of adventure will find following Christ to be the greatest opportunity they could ever have imagined and, by far, the most magnificent adventure of which they have ever been a part! Pray that they will clearly hear and understand the gospel and that their lives and communities will be transformed because of it."

Karamojong of Uganda

(CARE-ah-muh-jong) - The Karamojong Team writes: "In the past few months in Kaabong, we have seen multiple stillbirths, assaults, deaths, and disease. People outside of the church are asking if the church is cursed because of the higher-than-normal amount of suffering experienced by its members. Please pray for the steadfastness of believers, and ask that they will not be tempted to seek anything other than Jesus as their rescuer. Pray that they will be like Job and proclaim, 'The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD' (Job 1:21 ESV). Pray that God will have favor on His Church in Kaabong and grant them mercy from their sufferings. And pray most of all that He will take what has happened and use it for His glory and His people's good."

Imagine a day of constant sunlight, where the sun never fully sets even in the latest hours of night. Ligo, is one of the biggest holidays in Latvia that has its origin in the pagan ritual of worshipping the sun during the summer solstice. In modern times, this day is marked by people celebrating in a worldly fashion. Please pray that as the gospel is proclaimed, true repentance will change hearts and Latvians will begin to worship the true Son.

Central Asian Unengaged Peoples

A small minority of Baloch people live in Turkmenistan. They are part of the larger Baloch peoples living in Iran, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. These Western Baloch have a strong sense of unity, sharing a common origin, history, language, tradition, and religion. Western Baloch women dress distinctively, often wearing the color red. They are skilled in embroidery, and their clothes are decorated with beautiful designs and colors. Wearing gold jewelry is also important for the women. The men usually wear more muted clothes consisting of long shirts over loose pants. Rug weaving is a common trade. The family unit is central in the culture, and marrying outside of the Western Baloch community is forbidden. Those living in Turkmenistan speak the Western Balochi language and practice Sunni Islam. There are some gospel resources in their language but no engagement or church-planting activity among them. Ask God to send believers to share the gospel with the Western Baloch in Turkmenistan. Pray that the Holy Spirit will stir the hearts of these people to seek the truth in Jesus.

Bulgarian Muslims (Pomaks) of Bulgaria

(POH-mahks) - "Many false prophets will arise and lead many astray" (Matthew 24:11 ESV). Just as Jesus promised, false prophets continue to arise and lead many astray even in the beautiful mountainous region where the Pomaks live. All kinds of summer gatherings occur to promote strange spiritual experiences. Pray that the Pomaks "will know the truth, and the truth will set [them] free" (John 8:32 ESV).

Bengali Muslims of India

(ben-GAH-lee) - Pray for follow-up trainings in the state of West Bengal with Hindu-background believers who are learning how to go out and share the gospel among Muslims. As they go and share as part of the training and also go and share on their own, pray that God will bring them to Muslims who are searching for the truth. Ask the Holy Spirit to bring many people to faith in Christ. Pray for faithfulness in discipling these new believers.
