Asian Pacific Rim Peoples
Tokyo, Japan

(TOH-kyoh) - April begins the new semester for colleges and universities in Japan. To meet students and connect them with the Tokyo Team's university ministries, it is important to meet with students the first two weeks before classes start. The Tokyo Team will be on campus every day for the first two weeks of April to meet and greet students, invite them to activities and connect them to our Story House Student Activity Center. Please pray for the Tokyo Team to have good conversations with students, and that the students will be interested in the activity for each day. Pray that the students who attend the activities during the first two weeks will keep coming to the Story House Activity Center throughout the year. As they hear the gospel at the center, pray that they will have an open heart to Jesus and accept Him. Pray for the Tokyo Team to connect well with students, be bold, and share the gospel clearly.

Central Asian Peoples
Rumelian Turks of the Balkans

(ru-ME-lee-an) - "Then children were brought to him that he might lay his hands on them and pray. The disciples rebuked the people, but Jesus said, 'Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven'" (Matthew 19:13-14 ESV). Pray for pregnant Rumelian Turks to come to know the God who gives life. Pray for the babies, toddlers, and children to realize that they are loved by their Creator. As Rumelian Turkish children of the Balkans grow up often in villages, sometimes in poverty, and usually with discrimination, may they hear Jesus' voice, saying, "Come!"

South Asian Peoples
People of the Lower Plains of Karnataka, India

(car-NAH-tuh-kuh) - "I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment" (1 Corinthians 1:10 ESV). Jealousy, pride, and arrogance are creeping into leadership in areas in the south and causing division. Believers, who are now confused, are asking which person they are to follow, as they thought that everyone was working together. Please pray for the Spirit to soften hearts, to convict of sin (which leads to repentance), and to bring about reconciliation for the sake of the gospel. Pray for humble hearts that are quick to forgive and love one another well. Pray that all can say, like the Apostle Paul, "I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth" (1 Corinthians 3:6-7 ESV).

North African and Middle Eastern Peoples
Northern African and Middle Eastern Unengaged Peoples

The Chamba Bedouin live on the northern side of the Sahara in central Algeria. They are a large tribe, numbering 96,000. Like many of the other Bedouin tribes, they primarily herd livestock and farm their fields. Slowly, more and more work at wage-paying jobs, but they do not prefer that kind of work. They are people of the land; they want to work the land. Also, like many other Bedouin, the Chamba are void of a gospel witness. They have not heard about the good news or the one true God. They practice a form of mystic Islam and have never known anything different. Intercede on behalf of the Chamba. Ask the Lord to send His message of salvation to them. Pray that many Chamba will turn to Christ and be some of the first Bedouin to do so. "Turn to me and be saved, all the ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other" (Isaiah 45:22 ESV).

North African and Middle Eastern Peoples
N. Africans/Middle Easterners, North Star, France

While attending a student event celebrating their home country and culture, three North African university students sat at a table next to a couple of Christians. They shared a meal and good conversation. Near the end of the evening, the students got to hear the gospel and ask questions. The seed of the gospel was sown! Please pray for these young adults to continue asking questions about the Christian faith, the Bible, and Jesus Christ. Pray that they will have good follow-up conversations with the Christians they recently met, and ask the Lord to bring more believers into their lives. Pray that these students will come to know the gospel, "for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes. . . . For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, 'The righteous shall live by faith'" (Romans 1:16-17 ESV).

Muslims of Tamil Nadu, India

(TAH-mil NAH-doo) - People in Tamil Nadu, India, observe two calendars: the traditional solar calendar and the Tamil lunar calendar. April 14 is celebrated this year as the Tamil New Year and recognizes the balance of people and nature. Tamilians eat special meals together, shops advertise sales, and schools take the day off. Pray for Tamilians this year to examine their hearts and lives, see their need for a Savior who pursues them, and submit their lives to Jesus.

Asian Pacific Rim Peoples
Mongolian Peoples of Outer Mongolia and Russia

(mon-GOHL-yun) - Thank you for asking God to bring emotional healing to the children of the couple who were killed in a car accident in November. On March 3, they went to church together for the first time since the accident. The church was silent as the 9-year-old girl quoted Joshua 1:6-9 during the time when children shared memorized Scriptures. The boys who knew her dad as their soccer coach were especially attentive. Their almost 2-year-old baby sister is still with their mother's unbelieving parents in the countryside. Please ask that God will bring them to live together very soon and that He will completely heal the 7-year-old's leg. Also, please ask God to use the church to minister to the four boys who were in the vehicle and are still struggling with physical and emotional scars.

Sub-Saharan African Peoples
Karamojong of Uganda

(CARE-ah-muh-jong) - Pray for the elders of the local fellowships of believers in young church plants across the area, asking that they will be faithful to grow in righteousness in the Lord. Pray that they will be hungry for God's Word and that it will take root deep in their hearts. Ask that they will lead their families in the way of Jesus and that they will be attentive to the Holy Spirit to guide them. Pray that these men will learn how to love and lead their wives like Christ does the church. Pray that they will disciple their children to be courageous like Daniel was, choosing to be a light in a culture that worships other idols. Ask God to raise up more leaders within these churches.

Durban, South Africa

(DER-bun) - Pray for the pastors of Durban, South Africa, as they meet together regularly to discuss the needs of the city and seek to develop a strategy for reaching various segments of the population. Ask God to give them vision and wisdom as they plan. Pray that the believers in the churches will become a driving force in this effort. May the Durban world be turned upside down by the power of the Holy Spirit through the witness of the believers (Acts 17:6).

Deaf Peoples
Deaf Peoples

Last fall, a young man from the United States joined the Southeast Asian Deaf ministry team for a six-month term of service. He's been a huge blessing for the team and their Southeast Asian partners, especially the college students. Worker Madeline Hawthorne shares: "We really enjoyed having him on our team. He is wrapping up his time here and will transition back to the U.S. this month. He has not made any future plans and is trying to trust the Lord to guide him, but he covets your prayers on how to proceed. Transitions are hard enough even when you know what to expect, but they are worse when there are unknowns. I know that God will care for him no matter what comes next, but I understand his desire for answers and appreciate your prayers for him."

Chittagong Muslims of Bangladesh

(chit-TAH-gong) - A training about how people relate to God and how they should relate to God has been taught to local believers in hopes that they will grow in their understanding and obedience. During this month, the training will be given again for another group of believers. Please pray for the participants to grow in faith via the training.
