Two women, Fatima and Ima, are currently in a friendship with two believers who often share the truth of the gospel and Scriptures with them. Fatima has been reading the Bible with a Christian for a couple of weeks and is very excited about learning about the Word and knowing Jesus. Ima is very good friends with a secret believer. Pray for both women to believe in Jesus and turn away from Islam despite persecution.
(SHE-uh) - Adam is an Iraqi Shia man who is married with a family. He is not a follower of Jesus, but over the past few months, he has become more curious about Christianity. He attended a church service recently and greatly enjoyed it. The music spoke to his heart and stirred up many questions inside of him. After attending that church service, he asked a Christian friend, "So, when people decide to follow Jesus . . . does it mean that they're saying that Islam is actually wrong and Christianity is the only right way?" The Lord is working in his heart! Please pray for Adam to continue asking questions and for him to have dreams and visions about Jesus. Pray that he and his family will one day soon choose to say no to Islam and yes to Jesus.
The news has conflicting reports. It is hard to know who is being targeted in Syria and who isn't. One thing is for certain, though: People of all religions--Syrian Sunnis, Shia, Alawites, Druze, and Christians--are struggling right now. They need our prayers. Pray that all who are tempted to take up weapons will lay them down and go to the negotiating tables. Pray that Christians who follow the Lord closely will share His love and compassion with those all around them. Ask God to bring cultural Christians back to their roots, and pray that they, in turn, will introduce others to a Savior who offers peace in a land that has not experienced it for 14 years.
(NAH-goh-yah) - Ken, a 78-year-old grandfather of two, saw a digital engagement post about the birth of Jesus that missionaries created and uploaded on social media. He sent a message mocking and insulting the post, questioning how foolish it would be for someone to really believe this story. However, a Japanese responder patiently answered his message and clearly stated why he believed the truth of the Bible. God has been working in Ken's heart. Now, after several weeks of online conversation, his attitude toward Christ is changing. Please pray for God to continue to work in Ken's heart and give online responders wisdom in how to best share God's love with Ken.
(OO-tar pra-DESH) - "The harvest is plentiful" (Matthew 9:37 ESV)! Brother Aquila has continued to be faithful in sharing the gospel in "Electric City" and the surrounding areas, and now not just two people, but a group of people from a Muslim background have come to faith! Praise God for the work He is doing in the lives of these new siblings in Christ! Pray that they will abide in Jesus and follow Aquila's example in being faithful to share about what God has done in their lives with others in their community. Pray especially that others in these new believers' families will come to know the Lord.
(kahm-PAH-lah) - Join in prayer for a local Ugandan ministry that has a safe house in Kampala for women who are being rescued from the sex trade industry. Many of these young women are coming to faith and gaining freedom! Pray for Kampala Urban Team member Allie White as she goes multiple times a week to help support these women in discipleship and counseling. Pray for revival in the slums where these women live.
http://www.imb.org/sub-saharan-africa/Workers write: "We are grateful to the Lord for opportunities to share about life on the field as we seek to inspire many to pray, give, go, and send. In this era of modern technology, please continue to pray for these golden seasons for us to visit churches, share information through teleconferencing, and encourage others through video messages. May the light and hope of Christ continue to shine!"
(BAH-soo-too) - Kyle and Kim Totty, Basotho Team members in the Mokhotlong district, request prayer for the school children who come by their home on Friday afternoons to play and hear the gospel. Many of these children wear outward signs of trusting in something other than Jesus. Pray that hearts will be open to the good news of the Savior and that many families will be changed. "But Jesus said, 'Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven'" (Matthew 19:14 ESV).
http://www.imb.org/sub-saharan-africa/(BANG-kok) - Around 1 million university students live in Bangkok. Team members on the Greater Bangkok Team are faithfully sharing the gospel with students each term on their campuses. Pray that God will raise up many national partners and new workers to help reach the vast number of students that have come to study in Bangkok.
God's Word promises in Revelation 7:9 that there will be people from every nation, tribe, people, and language gathered before His throne one day. The Hui people are a minority group where they live in China, and for many of these people, their identity is tied to Islam. The fetter of Islam binds their hearts in darkness. Pray that God will break the chain of unbelief in Jesus with the radical truth of the gospel. Cry out to God for the many Hui who need the light of Christ to illuminate the darkness where they remain locked up and without hope. May many come to be reconciled to God.
(uh-JEE-an) - A small church is really growing in unity! One of the members, Kathy, was out of the church for many years until God moved her to a new apartment where a home gathering met! She has had a difficult time lately. Things at her home are not good, and she has not attended her new church in quite some time. Several of her fellow church members and sisters in Christ have pursued Kathy during this difficult season, finding ways to spend time with her and encourage her. Other believers from Kathy's church are also hanging out with each other on their own accord. Praise God for this provision of community! Pray for even more unity in this small church!
