"One of the challenges of serving overseas can be living far from family, especially when ongoing, long-term health crises occur. Please lift up in prayer one of the couples who are serving with our team this year. The wife's mother, Vivian, has been fighting cancer, and the current treatment plan is no longer working. The husband's uncle, Scott, is beginning cancer treatment after recently being diagnosed. Pray for God's divine intervention, healing touch, and sustaining power for both Vivian and Scott. May His peace fill the hearts of all involved."http://www.imb.org/sub-saharan-africa/
Join the Theological Education Team in giving thanks to the Lord as a new family joins the team in March! They write: "Pray for this family as they say goodbye to their extended family members and travel to Tanzania. Ask God to give them the energy and strength needed as they travel. Intercede for them as they begin learning a new language and adjust to living and ministering in this country. Ask God to allow their children to make lifelong friends quickly here. Pray for our team as we become a three-family team. Ask God to make our team unified in vision and purpose. May He give each of us wisdom and patience as we learn to work together. 'For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ' (2 Peter 1:5-8 ESV)."http://www.imb.org/sub-saharan-africa/
Please pray for trainings for 400-plus new pastors as they learn to follow God's calling on their lives and share His love with the lost.
Word has come that there is a small group of about 20 believers in a remote area of the northeastern Kumaon region in the state of Uttarakhand, India. Please pray that a training being planned through a local pastor will be able to take place and that these believers will be moved to come, learn, and grow in the vision to see how God will chose to use them to reach their people for Christ. Pray that they will be stirred by Jesus' command in Mark 16:15 (ESV) to "go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation."
(SHE-uh) - Ramadan, a monthlong period of fasting for Muslims, is coming this month. For several weeks now, Iraqi Shia have been preparing for this time of fasting with much excitement. They see it as their offering to Allah, a time to pray that their good deeds will be noticed by him and that they will one day be accepted into heaven. The rules of their beliefs hold Iraqis in bondage to their good works. Just as the children of Israel were rescued out of slavery from Egypt, pray that Iraqi Shia will be rescued from their sins by the only one who can save, Jesus. Leviticus 26:11-12 (ESV) says: "I will make my dwelling among you, and my soul shall not abhor you. And I will walk among you and will be your God, and you shall be my people." Pray that heaven will come down in the hearts of Iraqis as they are redeemed out of the darkness of sin. Ask the Holy Spirit to draw many Iraqis to Jesus and to dwell in their hearts. Pray for a number of Iraqis to become God's people. May that number be multiplied in Iraq and beyond!
Safiya invites her believing friend to her family's apartment because she likes to ask questions about Jesus. She likes that her friend finds answers in her own "religious book." Then they discuss what Jesus did, why He died, that He rose again, and that He will return as King of kings. Safiya talks excitedly about what it would be like if Jesus returned today and exclaims, "I would not want to miss the return of this Great Prophet!" Sadly, Safiya does not understand that Jesus is more than a prophet. Safiya will be married soon and move to a different city, but for now, she continues to invite her friend to her home, where they talk about Jesus as "the way, the truth, and the life" and the only way to the Father (John 14:6 CSB). Give thanks to God that Safiya's wedding has been delayed and that her friend will have more time to share with her. Pray for Safiya's eyes to be opened to the truth. Ask the Lord to show Himself to her in dreams and visions and through His Word. Pray that she will believe and become a light for her family.
(mah-LONG) - There was a large response to the Malong People Prayer focus throughout the island in February. This month, women from the local church are still gathering to continue to see how God wants them to be involved in reaching out to Malong people. Pray that they will desire to support local workers living among the Malong people. Ask God to work in their hearts and that they will not fear going into communities to help other believers make the gospel known. Also, pray they will encourage their young people to spend the summer in Malong communities to work alongside community workers to bring the good news.
"March will be a month of prayer, prep, and logistics. We will be preparing for an assembly of indigenous missionaries who serve throughout the Amazon Basin. Currently, this group is undergoing a change in leadership. Though change can be difficult, we are thankful for the time of focusing on the common vision of reaching the peoples of the Amazon Basin, of worshiping together, of praying together, and of fellowshipping together. We will also have the opportunity to teach Bible storying techniques to the large group. Pray that this meeting in April will be one of unity, encouragement, and equipping. Pray, too, for traveling mercies for the participants."
(EE-sahn) - Thank you for praying for the very successful Christmas event this past December. After the event, Isaan Team members, Sarah and Joshua, began a small group in a new village. This group has been meeting just a few weeks in the home of local believers who have a heart to see their community hear about Jesus. About five people have been coming on Wednesday mornings to worship together and learn more about Jesus. Please pray that the Holy Spirit will move in their lives and that they will put their faith in Jesus.firstname.lastname@example.org
This month, Christians will celebrate the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord. Pray that this Easter season will be a time of renewed hope for Christians living in an environment that continues to be hostile to the gospel. Ask the Lord for these dear brothers and sisters to have boldness and courage to tell this beautiful story of grace and redemption to those who are without hope, and pray that they will see many come to know the One who came so that we may have email@example.com
(BAH-soo-too) - A Great Commission Christian partnering couple working in Lesotho requests prayer for a boy named Tumelo. "Two years ago, he was taken away from his grandmother, by his uncle, to work as a shepherd. We have been advocating for his return through law enforcement and mediations with the family. It is illegal for children to be forced to work as shepherds and excluded from school. This week, he finally was returned home. He was not compensated for his work. The police agreed that he cannot return to the uncle's home. During this time, he suffered greatly. Please pray that Jesus will heal his heart and wounds. Before he was taken, he showed great curiosity about the gospel and things of God. Pray that he will come to know the love of Jesus. In Lesotho, 70% of children are excluded from education; most of them are boys. Pray for law enforcement to protect children's rights so that each child has a chance to be a child. We are so thankful for Tumelo's return and know that this is evidence of God's intervention on his behalf! 'Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy' (Psalm 82:3 KJV)."http://www.imb.org/sub-saharan-africa/ firstname.lastname@example.org
(uh-JEE-an) - Please pray for Mary. She is juggling all that is involved in being a wife and mother in addition to working a part-time job. She also leads a weekly Bible study for the women in her church. Even though her plate is full of family responsibilities, Mary desires to remain consistent in her engagement with women who need fellowship and discipleship. Pray that Mary will daily seek the Lord in prayer and personal study of the Bible. May she not neglect nourishing her own soul. Also ask God to give her the wisdom and endurance needed to be a nurturing and loving wife and mother. Finally, pray that God will bless her efforts to be faithful in discipleship with the women in her email@example.com
