Turks of Istanbul, Turkey

(is-tan-BULL) - Pray that Titus 3:3-7 (ESV) will become a reality for Turks in Istanbul who do not trust Jesus Christ as their Savior: "For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another. But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life." Pray that they will see their foolish ways and realize the ways they are enslaved to worldly desires that do not lead to eternal hope. Pray that they will see the kindness and love of God. Pray that they will know that their righteous deeds cannot save them, and ask that they will understand the mercy offered through Jesus.

Along the coasts of Mexico, Central America, and South America are areas famous for surfing. Representatives from several countries in the Americas will vie for medals and the fame that comes with them. Pray that surfers would seek Jesus and the reward of His salvation. Pray that they would see Him through His creation of the oceans, beaches, and waves.

North Africa/Middle East Refugees in the Diaspora

Ma'isah recently came to know some believers who live in Europe. As an immigrant from a distant land, Ma'isah already has faced many difficulties in her life. There aren't many people from her home country who live in her new country, but she is thankful for the friends she has made. Recently, she opened up to her believing friends about her struggles with infertility. While that is a difficult struggle on its own, it's compounded by the fact that her home culture prizes children above almost everything. Having children is considered to be a sign that one is favored by God. Since she is not able to have children, she loses a measure of respect and honor that she'd have otherwise. The believers are thankful for Ma'isah, as well, and are honored that she shared her struggles with them. Please pray for Ma'isah, asking that she will know that God loves her whether she is able to have children or not. Pray that Ma'isah will know that He loved her so much that He sent His Son to die for her so that she might have a relationship with Him.

Ngoni of Tanzania

(n-GO-knee) - In many cultures around the world today, the younger generation is not as willing to follow the religious beliefs of their parents as previous generations were. The world offers many other "options" to attract youth and draw them away from God. This reality exists among youth all over Africa. The Ngoni youth of Tanzania are no exception. The generation of their parents are strong adherents to the Roman Catholic religion. Their children, the youth of today, are not so faithful nor desirous to follow their parent's beliefs; they are looking for something new. Ask God to lead true believers to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with those youth, and pray that He with draw their young hearts to His Son, Jesus. Ask God to save hundreds and thousands of Ngoni young people and to lead His church to be faithful in making strong disciples of those who believe.

Muslims of Three States in South India

A Muslim-background believing couple manages a tutoring center to provide Muslim children afterschool help. This allows them to reach their own community, the Muslim people, with the gospel. Because they were Muslims and are now followers of Jesus, the Muslim community is slow to open up to them. They have shared some prayer requests: "Pray for Sharon, a teacher at the tutoring center; we are planning to share the gospel with the family as well as working on a relationship with her husband. Pray for the Farm family; we are planning to share the gospel with this family as well as working on building a relationship with the head of the family. Pray for the Issac family (the wife is Sharon's friend); we are planning to share the gospel and are working to meet with the husband to maintain the relationship. We are planning to hire a new teacher for our center." Please pray for this couple as they manage the tutoring center. Everything is in God's control.

Deaf Peoples

Worker Gretchen Snow shares: "I have been working with Deaf college students in a Southeast Asian country where I regularly meet with a Deaf student for discipleship. Colleges are now closed because of the summer. I am currently focusing on another ministry to work with a city in the south. The city is spiritually dark. It is filled with the most Muslim and Buddhist mixture. A lot of Deaf people live there, too. I will be traveling there with my Southeast Asian partner. She is currently a college student and also studied at a theological training school last year. Pray for us as we do the work in this new city. Pray for wisdom for me as I teach my Southeast Asian partner how to work in evangelism. Pray that my actions will be a reflection of the Lord's grace to her. Pray for her to learn and understand so that she can do her own efforts in the future work."

In April, you were asked to pray for a pastor to be able to find local employment. Unfortunately, Sam did not find anywhere to work before his need to pay for college tuition and normal bills came due. He left his wife, children, and church body to return to his job as a public transportation driver in a different country. He plans to return to his home at the end of fall. Pray that while Sam is away, his church will grow under the teaching of another leader. Intercede for him and his family while they are separated. Ask that Sam will find work locally when he returns so that he can serve the Lord in his hometown and still be able to survive financially.
