Sara is a young professional woman in the Twin Cities. For many years, she was dissatisfied with the religion surrounding her and has now walked away from Islam and no longer believes or follows the teachings of Muhammad. Through Sara's job, she began to meet believers and establish friendships with them. Many of these new believing friends shared with Sara about Jesus and how He is different than what she had been taught. But Sara did not want to believe; she did not want to exchange one religion for another. In the past year, God has continued to bring believers into Sara's life, and now Sara reads from the Bible each day with a local believer. Although she has yet to place her faith in Jesus, she is open to truth and is curious about what she is reading. As Sara and the local believer read together each day, please pray that she and the believer will have conversations that bring life and healing to Sara. Ask that God will reveal Himself to her and that she will come to a saving faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Thank you for praying for the new worker and his family, as they have now moved to South Africa and have gotten settled in. Please continue to pray that God will provide "divine appointment" along the way as they are getting to know their new environment and meeting new people and making new friends.
"A house church in a small town in southern Cebu was started over 10 years ago. It had always been small but finally has grown to six families. Over the last several months, the members have been receiving persecution from nearby neighbors. Now those neighbors have threatened to give the church members' names to the local religious leader. That could affect not only the members, but also their children's ability to attend school and any type of assistance the families receive. They could also be bullied within the community. Sadly, the evil one has discouraged four of the families, and they no longer attend the church. Please pray for them. We praise God for the two families that are remaining faithful in the face of much persecution. While this is a reminder that we are in a spiritual battle, we know God wins in the end."
(OO-tar pra-DESH) - Pray for the various ongoing trainings that are happening in western Uttar Pradesh. Ask that the brothers and sisters in Christ who attend these trainings will be encouraged by God's Word and empowered to share the good news with others. Pray that as a result of these trainings, many people in the state will come to faith and be gathered into new fellowships.
Located in a tropical port city on an island, many of the nation's unreached people groups live in Crownland province. This area of millions of people is the native home of at least five unreached people groups, two of whom are completely unengaged with the gospel. While the vast majority of the people in this region hold to Islamic beliefs, there are also large numbers of Buddhist and Hindu peoples who live there, too. Efforts are being made to reach people through various prongs of ministry. Through avenues like education, medicine, village work, and church mobilization, believers are working to reach communities throughout the province. Please pray for the salvation of the peoples of Crownland province.
Pray for a church plant in Oslo, Norway, as they look at next steps to start a café ministry center in the city. Ask that God will clearly lead their steps as they seek to secure both funding and a location.
Most of the Sungor people live in Chad, but 25,000 of them have settled in western Sudan. Their homeland in Sudan is currently in a war that is bringing turmoil to their village life, their work, and their resources. Sungor men used to come from Chad into Sudan seeking jobs, but now that is reversed, as resources from Chad are trickling into Sudan. The Sungor people in Sudan have a history of hopelessness, as they have been traditionally shunned by others. Pray for these people whom Jesus loves and for whom He died. Ask that in their increasingly hopeless situation, they will hear the good news. Pray for the turmoil in their lives to turn to praising God. "Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God" (Psalm 42:5-6 ESV).
www.imb.org/adoptauupg(ny-ROH-bee) - During the month of August, Kenyan youth have a holiday from boarding school and university studies. The youth of a church in Kikuyu (outside Nairobi) served the Lord during that month. The youth were trained to teach and lead Vacation Bible School (VBS) at their own church, and more than 350 children came over two days. The youth then traveled to remote villages in Kenya and taught other churches how to teach VBS. As a result, six churches were able to share the good news of Jesus with at least 100 children per church, which is 600 children. When the youth returned to their home church, they led the entire Sunday worship service. They led with great boldness in praise, worship, and the Word of God. Within two Sundays, the youth also chose to go to a revival rather than have fellowship together. The youth are on fire for Jesus and are setting the example of what growth looks like in the Kenyan church. Praise God that these young adults love Jesus and are making Him known!
http://www.imb.org/sub-saharan-africa/A group of believers are trying to help people in "Syello," a small village built by squatters. Recently, there have been some cases of domestic violence in "Syello." This is a very difficult problem, as there is not much available help for victims and, frequently, well-meaning friends and family give bad advice. Please pray that the believers will be able to help in a godly way. Pray against violence and unhealthy relationships. May all in "Syello" come to the truth and live out healthy lives reflective of the Father's plan.
centralasianpeoples@protonmail.com(chi-KUN-duh) - "Please pray for the Eastern Province of Zambia," writes the Eastern Harvest Team. "The country has been experiencing record hours of power outages this year. As we are going into a hot and dry season, the need for fans and refrigerators increases. Please pray for rain and for endurance for the Zambians and our missionaries."
http://www.imb.org/sub-saharan-africa/Sino-Mongol people are scattered throughout the world. Among them are 316 unreached people groups (UPGs), which means that less than 2% of their population are evangelical Christian. Please pray that God will bring about a great awakening among these who are yet to be reached with the gospel. Pray that believers among them will moved in their hearts to share Christ with their family, neighbors, and friends as they look to Jesus as their hope.
