"For South Mongolic peoples, the past month brought stressful changes. It has become more difficult for us to study their heart language. May believers be refined in this difficult time, trusting in their Father who knows and loves them. We also pray that this struggle will cause the lost to seek Him."
eastasiaprayer@pobox.com(sor-AH-nee) - Terrance is a believer who lives in a city and has been walking through a hard season. Because he is a single man and a Christian, it is very difficult for him to find work, a place to live, and a wife. Recently, these hard realities have been weighing on Terrance and have caused him to fall into depression and bitterness. On top of that, he has been fed several lies from the evil one through some of his old friends regarding his situation. He shared with a fellow believer one of the lies with which he has been wrestling. Terrance is afraid that nonbelievers will see his situation and conclude that following Jesus is not worth the troubles that may follow. Thankfully, Terrance has been able to recognize this as a lie and realize that God will carry him through this hard season and use his story to help other young men who will face the same struggles because of their faith. Pray that the Lord will sustain Terrance through this hard season and use Terrance's situation to bring glory to God.
centralasianpeoples@protonmail.com(chee-ANG RYE) - "Thank you for your prayers for the many things our team is involved in: the student center, the training of local pastors, the aquaponic food systems, and the gym. As the students from the center are home for the summer, we are going to visit some of them in their hometown. Please pray for open doors. Please keep praying as we train local pastors, especially as doors have opened in two unchurched areas. Continue to pray that those who have received help from the aquaponic food systems will want to use them to reach the lost people around them. Continue to pray for the unbelievers who come to the gym because of church, Bible study, competitions, and a monthly men's gathering. Pray that they will hear and receive the good news. Pray also for wisdom as we seek to find ways to reproduce what we are doing in the gym in other places. Lastly, please pray for believers who will be sharing with lost people at a golf tournament on June 11."
(NOO-bee-ans) - Over hundreds and even thousands of years, refugees have traversed through the land of Nubia. From southern Egypt into northern Sudan or vice versa, they have sought refuge. Currently, refugees are fleeing from northern Sudan across Egypt's southern border, an area known as Upper Egypt. They are looking for lodging, for food, and for comfort. Pray for Sudanese Nubian refugees to find a safe place to settle and for Nubians in Egypt to show hospitality to those crossing through their land. Pray for Nubian believers to share a cup of water in Jesus' name. Intercede for lasting peace in this land that has experienced much conflict. "I will give peace in the land, and you shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid" (Leviticus 26:6 ESV).
(mahm-BAH-suh) - "Summertime in the United States might bring to mind images of young people having fun in the sun. However, there are four university students from Kansas who are choosing to spend their summertime in Africa serving the Son! Join us in praying for these four students as they join our ministry here in Africa. May they reflect the love of Jesus everywhere they go and show how to have fun in the one and only true Son! These four students are not the only ones committing their summer to serving, so also pray for the hundreds of others who are glorifying the Eternal Son as they serve alongside our personnel all around the world."
"How is Japan doing with COVID-19? Wearing a mask here is optional, but many Japanese continue to wear them, especially on the mass transit systems and in public places like restaurants. Most people who work in public places from teachers to office workers still wear masks. Praise the Lord that we are receiving volunteers! Will you come? Japan's doors are open! Yet, it is far too early to stop praying for Japan and this lingering issue. Tokyo confirmed an increase in new cases of COVID-19. Experts are warning of another infection wave, all of this just as COVID-19 was scheduled to be downgraded to the same level as seasonal flu. In many ways, the churches have been the hardest hit. Ask for wisdom for the pastors. One prominent Baptist pastor in Tokyo said, "I am literally going to have to start all over with the way we think about church!" Ask for boldness for the churches as they try to be sensitive to their surroundings. The real hope for any sickness is the 'health' found in the good news."
eastasiaprayer@pobox.comA team in Northern Italy is hosting a brunch outreach on June 10. Please pray for people to come and get connected with believers and for good gospel-sharing opportunities. Please pray that through this outreach, seeds would be planted.
(EH-kwuh TOR-ee-ul GIH-nee) - On June 8 of this year, Equatorial Guineans will celebrate the holiday called Corpus Christi, a time of remembering the significance of the institution of the Lord's Supper. Most Equatorial Guineans are Catholic, so the majority of those who appreciate the religious significance of the holiday will celebrate in a Catholic church. Pray for them to meditate on Jesus' words during His final meal with His closest followers and to truly focus their hearts and minds on remembering Him. Pray that they will desire to know Him in a personal, life-changing relationship. Pray for Equatorial Guineans who already have a personal relationship with Jesus to speak boldly about Him to everyone they encounter.
(boh-guh-TAH) - Pray for Mark, a young indigenous believer living in a shelter for displaced people. Pray that he will be salt and light to the 1,500 other displaced people who are living in the overcrowded building. Ask God to protect him when he is persecuted for his faith, and pray that he will overcome every spiritual attack with the Word of God and reliance on the Holy Spirit. Please intercede for one of his children, who has had recurring health problems.
Worker Melody Hendrick is currently leading a small team through one region of the world. She invites you to intercede for them in the following ways: Pray that their travel between different cities and countries will go as planned, not bringing any surprises, especially as they travel between countries that are not friendly with each other, which could be a potential issue for them. Ask for favor with immigration officers. Pray for daily safety and wisdom and for the Father to protect their team as they conduct their daily business. Also, ask that they will all be filled with the Holy Spirit daily, having wisdom and discernment. Pray for success in connecting with and communicating with Deaf communities; ask that they will connect well and deeply with new Deaf contacts and communities and that their visit will be productive for the purpose of collecting ethnographic data. Ask that they will communicate easily using sign language dialects that are new to them. Pray that their team will be strong and unified in Christ. Finally, please pray Colossians 3:23-24 over them, asking that they will work for the Father's glory, giving every day their best effort.
Yasmine, a young woman living in the heart of the mountains, has been a follower of Jesus for two years. There's no church in her region, so her only fellowship is when believers come to visit her once a month for discipleship and encouragement. Because she's no longer in school, she has come under immense pressure from her parents and her older brother to marry. This past year, she refused six different marriage proposals orchestrated by her parents. She knows that her time is running out. She wants to marry a believer and is losing hope that this is a realistic option. She fears that her parents will lose patience and force her to marry a Muslim. Yasmine isn't alone in this situation. Many other believing young women are under pressure to marry, but there are no believing men available, often due to a lack of jobs or the financial means to get married. Ask God to bring Yasmine a godly man to marry before her family forces her into a Muslim marriage. Pray for healthy, Jesus-centered marriages to form among the Camper People, and ask that these homes will be a place for the church to meet and grow in the future.
(bohj-POOR-ee) - Several believing college students will be serving among the Bhojpuri people this summer. Dividing into two teams, they will disciple believers and train them how to disciple other believers with an easy-to-use set of seven Bible studies on Jesus' commands for His followers. Pray that the students will be spiritually, physically, and emotionally healthy as they face ministry in a new culture. Ask that they will work well with their translators and develop good relationships with local pastors and leaders. Pray that those whom they disciple will be obedient to Jesus' commands and that they will have the vision to disciple others in their churches as well as new believers that they lead to the Lord. Pray for the Holy Spirit's power and protection for this work so that the Bhojpuri church will be strengthened.
