(WEE-wah) - "Thank you for praying as members of our Valledupar Team partnered with a volunteer team from Texas in organizing a retreat for the youth in the community of Rose. The youth heard the gospel and many Bible stories during this retreat. Pray that many will choose to follow Jesus and be bold to share what they are learning with others in their community."
(WAH-soo-loo) - For over a decade, Mason was the only follower of Christ in his family among the Wassulu people. A resident of the village of Birmingham, Mason remained faithful, though ostracized and often shunned by fellow villagers. Almost two years ago, his sibling, Sophia, was convicted of her sin and her need for Christ, and she joined him as not just a sister, but a sister in Christ. During a recent visit, workers were able to spend time again with both Mason and Sophia to encourage and challenge them in their walk with the Lord. Please join in praying for this familial duo to maintain spiritual strength and integrity against the tide of discouragement and chastisement by other family members and villagers. Pray for the villagers of Birmingham. Many have heard the gospel of Jesus Christ and have embraced long-term friendships with workers, and some have even had dreams that clearly confirmed the teachings from the Bible that they have heard, but for various reasons, they have been fearful of leaving Islam behind to follow Christ.email@example.com
National Liberation Day commemorates the end of Japanese occupation on the Korean Peninsula on August 15, 1945. It is the only Korean holiday that is celebrated in both North Korea and South Korea. In South Korea, it is known as "Gwangbokjeol" (Restoration of Light Day) and was officially designated a public holiday in 1949. All buildings and homes are encouraged to display the national flag, "Taeguki." The "Gwangbokjeol" song is sung at official ceremonies in remembrance of the blood shed for this liberty and in exhortation to guard it. In honor of the independence activists, their descendants can visit most public museums as well as ride public transportation and intercity trains free of charge. Give thanks to God for religious freedom in South Korea! Pray that Koreans will be free in Christ and not be enslaved to materialism and firstname.lastname@example.org
Some workers ask: "Please join our team in praying that there may be at least 12,000 'gospel shares' every month. We want to see this Scripture fulfilled among the people of this area: 'Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples!' (Psalm 96:3 ESV). Also pray for us as we seek the Lord in raising up a group 1,500 believers who will commit to the daily sharing of the gospel, and may this effort be stewarded locally. 'O Timothy, guard the deposit entrusted to you. Avoid the irreverent babble and contradictions of what is falsely called "knowledge"' (1 Timothy 6:20 ESV)."
There are several million people living on an island paradise in Southeast Asia. Most people on Pearl Island are self-sustaining farmers and fishermen, but the tourism industry is growing substantially due to surfing and scuba diving sites. The main religion is Islam, and many people are very committed to their faith. The majority people group, the Pearl People, have a history of distrust and civil wars, so they have traditionally been suspicious of outsiders. Their lives are challenging, as they fight poverty and frequent natural disasters. Despite their hardships, many Pearl People are kind and welcoming and willing to share whatever they have. Please pray for the salvation of the people of Pearl Island.
With a flick of his wrist, Amir strokes the brush across the canvas and watches as the blue paint comes to life. He is a refugee living in the Netherlands. Despite a devasting past and fleeing his broken home country, he finds joy in spending time with new friends. He attends an art class, a language class, and even a Bible study. Though born Muslim, he now feels a freedom to learn about other religions. In Islam, he found that the only way to paradise was to strive to live a moral life and to follow the Five Pillars: the Islamic profession of faith, daily prayers, giving to the poor, fasting, and a pilgrimage to Mecca. Even then, he would never know if he had done enough to earn entrance into heaven. He studies the Bible and hears about Jesus and the salvation that can be found only through faith in Him. Amir is drawn to the love and truth of this message but wants to make sure that he is ready to take that step of faith. Please pray for Amir to profess Jesus as Lord and to be used in mighty ways for God's kingdom.
Pray for the nation of India on this day as they celebrate their independence from Britain in 1947. Many festivities are going on, and children are performing programs and dancing at their schools. It is a day to be celebrated, but there is still so much hostility between Hindus and Muslims that stems from times past and has trickled down through the generations. Pray for this hostility to be broken and for all the people of India to have freedom from the bondage and hopelessness of Hinduism, Islam, Buddhism, Jainism, and Sikhism. Pray that all will come to hear of Jesus Christ so that one day, they will rejoice not in their freedom from another country, but in their freedom from sin and condemnation and place their hope in the one true God who can give them eternal life. Pray that one day, they will be a united people, passionate and on fire for Him. "For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus" (Galatians 3:26 KJV).
"The Preach and Heal through Medicine fund is actively working with projects around the world that seek to extend community health, mental health, and clinical medicine services to those in need. These projects don't stop there, though; we know that the greatest need in the world is lostness. Ask the Father to bless our personnel's efforts to meet physical and emotional needs by opening the door wide for them to meet this spiritual need, as well. Pray that the Lord will expand His kingdom throughout the world even while people get their diseases treated, their family's health improved, and their mental health needs addressed."www.imb.org/healthcare email@example.com
(uh-JEE-an) - A believer who is mature in the faith and her family have developed relationships with the pastor and the congregation at a nearby church. Recently, after the service, the pastor called this family in to pray for a woman who had been attending and had been reading the Bible. She asked for prayer during the service because she was about to take an extensive exam for a new job, so the family thought that was the reason they were invited into the chapel to pray with her. She told them that after reading the Bible and attending church services, she had decided to follow Jesus. After each question that the pastor asked her, she responded with a confident, "Yes!" Her voice was strong and sure. The believer was so thankful to be able to witness this moment. Pray that many more Aegean Turks will respond with a resounding, confident, "Yes!"firstname.lastname@example.org
