Uzbeks of Post-Soviet Central Asia

(OOZ-beks) - Regardless of the culture or location, women have a unique ability to reach and teach one another. Pray that Uzbek believing women who meet together regularly will prioritize spending time in the Word together. Pray that they will see their relationships as a time to disciple one another and build each other up. As women spend more time in the Word, pray that this will change their interactions with their husbands and children, as well as with relatives and neighbors around them.

"Could you all please pray for Karl? He is 25, and his belief in God is being attacked by the evil one. He is the only believer in his family, and they don't understand the changes in his life. He no longer prays to images or wears amulets. Karl's family is not supportive and is trying their best to control and influence him, wanting to bring him back to their false religion. Pray Karl will stand strong and continue to lean on God."

(mah-LOO-koo) - Please pray for Steve. He is the first one in his family to believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. He is eager to study God's Word and wants to share with his whole family. He is encouraging his children to read the Bible that is readily available on their smartphone. Pray for Steve as he seeks to reach his family, friends, and acquaintances with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

(car-NAH-tuh-kuh) - Many believers have been taught how to share their testimony and God's story in trainings, yet there are few reports of regular gospel sharing happening. Pray that these believers will join in weekly as some harvest workers sow the seeds of the gospel throughout the city. Pray that they will be bold to share the full truth with those they meet during these times as well as when they go about their normal daily rhythms.

North Africans in Sun City, Europe

Several years ago, Aya moved to Europe to learn a new language and prepare to attend college abroad. During her first semester, she met a believer in her language class, and they quickly became friends. One night at dinner, Aya began asking questions that she had about Christianity. She heard the gospel for the first time and was struck by the kindness of the God being described to her. When her friend reached the resurrection part of the story, Aya remembered that she had once heard that part of the story from a teacher as a little girl--and that it was a group of women who'd gone to the tomb and found it empty. She even remembered their names! The believer was amazed that Aya had heard that part of the story before, especially being from a country seemingly closed to the gospel. It was evident that God had been working in her heart from a young age, leading her to ask questions in that moment about the one true God. Since then, they've shared many more meals together, and Aya continues to ask questions as she hears more of the gospel. Please pray for Aya to come to know Jesus soon.

Ngoni of Tanzania

(n-GO-knee) - Pray for Baptist church leaders who desire to grow in the knowledge of God through the study of His Word. One church leader in the Ngoni area recently asked about the possibility of bringing the Theological Education by Extension (TEE) program to his area. He wants to offer church leaders the opportunity to study God's Word so they will return to the foundations of their faith in Jesus Christ and be obedient to His commands and, consequently, teach others the same. Ask God to continue moving in this one man's heart to pursue his desire in accordance with God's will and time. "The unfolding of your words gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple" (Psalm 119:130 ESV).

Missionary Explorers, Project 3000

"One of the people groups we are researching is isolated and highly restricted," missionary explorer Gabriela Garcia said. "No outsider is allowed to go in or out. They live deep in the jungle and have almost no contact with the outside world except when the government goes in to bring medical care. A few years ago, a young woman from the tribe gave birth to a baby girl with deformed legs. Instead of following the tribe's custom of abandoning the child in the jungle to die, the mother took her baby and escaped to the city for help. She and her daughter now live among Christians, and she's become the first believer from her people group. Please lift this believer in your prayers today! For the first time in many years, she is going back to visit her tribe. It has been very difficult for her to get permission to visit her family because she is a Christian. Please pray for her journey this week and especially for boldness in sharing her faith with her people."

Sub-Saharan African Peoples
Conakry, Guinea

(KON-ah-kree) - Each month in Conakry, Guinea, a group of young women get together to discuss the story of Joseph and how their individual life stories relate to his life story. Almost all of these women are Muslim and are trying to find their way in life. The discussions that workers Erica, Madison, and Priscilla have had with these women during the past few months have touched on both past hurts as well as current struggles that the women are facing. The women are caught between trying to conform to the patterns of the world and trying to find acceptance with God by following the religion of their families. Pray that these women will hear the truth of the gospel during the next discussion and that their lives will be transformed. Pray that they will ultimately find true freedom in Christ.

The Turkmen of Uzbekistan live mostly in the western part of the country near the border with Turkmenistan. They are descendants of ancient nomadic tribes. Their cultural heritage reflects their identity as herdsmen. They speak Turkmen, Uzbek, and some Russian. Although many Turkmen in Uzbekistan have integrated into Uzbek society, they continue to maintain their own customs, including traditional music, dance, and cuisine. They follow Sunni Islam. It's important for believers to engage Turkmen living in Uzbekistan with the gospel since access there is much easier than it is in Turkmenistan. Pray that God will open doors for Turkmen in Uzbekistan to have relationships with believers. Pray that He will provide a way for Uzbek believers to be accepted into Turkmen communities and have many gospel-sharing opportunities. Ask God to give Turkmen believers a heart to boldly share the gospel.

The Ngada of Indonesia are indigenous to Flores Island. They have been influenced by a variety of cultures, and since the 20th century many have followed Roman Catholicism. They hunt, farm, and weave to provide a living for themselves. Many ancient customs still exist today even though modern ideas are entering into society. Their lineage is traced through the mother, and women hold important roles in both family and cultural affairs. Though many are Roman Catholic, they maintain strong connections with their ancestors, building altars to honor them. Some rituals and ceremonies, such as Reba, a harvest festival, blend Christian and indigenous elements. Pray for them to turn wholly to the God of the Bible and let go of anything that is contrary to Scripture. Pray they will discover that God is approachable, loving, and kind. As they surrender their lives to Christ, pray for society to be transformed as people become new creations in Christ.
