(WEE-ghurs) - In 2019, you were asked to pray for a believing Uighur young man named Zin to be reunited with his new European wife in Scotland. He had been unable to join her there due to visa issues. The Lord provided! Now, several years later, they have a baby girl. Zin's mother, Holly, who lives in his homeland, has two other daughters at home, both adopted. She is a single mother and has done an incredible job of raising her girls to know about Jesus. However, anyone who has raised children knows that it's often a struggle to know what's best for them. Daisy, who is 15 years old, has just finished ninth grade, which is a deciding point for school in her country. Sage, who is 5 years old, is half Uighur/half Ethiopian and has really struggled in the local preschool system due to her hair texture and skin color. Please pray for Holly as she raises these two girls! She will be taking them to Scotland for a visit and is trying to decide if she should leave them there with Zin and his family so they can get a better education and have a better quality of life.
centralasianpeoples@protonmail.com(sloh-VAH-kee-uhns) - "Thank you for praying in July for our evangelistic outreach camp in Lucenec, Slovakia! Our team of volunteers from Texas, Arizona, Florida, the State of Georgia, Namibia, Japan, Poland, and Slovakia was able to present the truth of Jesus to more than 140 students. We as IMB representatives were blessed to continue building relationships with both believing and non-believing locals that we had met previous years and were also thankful to see God working though many gospel conversations during the week. We have heard reports that believers in Lucenec have seen a great change in two boys specifically who had been very opposed to the gospel for a long time. Thank you for being a part of this ministry through your prayers and support! Please keep praying that local believers would water the seeds that we were able to plant, and that God would give growth from our faithful work."
(chee-ang MY) - Pray with us for doors to open at a teen mom's home run by the government. After hearing of this home and the need they have for outside help, one of the pregnancy center team members reached out to the home to see if we could partner with them. She had a good phone conversation with the office attendant. The next step is to arrange an in-person meeting with the director. Pray that the director returns our calls and that a small group from our team can meet with her, listen to their needs, and have the opportunity to partner together in support of these moms. We would be able to offer Life in the Womb classes and Baby Care Workshops to girls living in the home. We do know from past experience that after hearing about the development of life in the womb and the Creator God, women have decided to follow Jesus with their lives. Pray that physical and spiritual lives are changed.
(ny-ROH-bee) - In July, 13 eager volunteers arrived in Nairobi with expectations of meeting Jesus in a new way. The Lord had plans for this volunteer team: building relationships with Kenyan co-laborers, walking alongside Nairobi churches in sharing the gospel of salvation, talking with people who live in urban settings and slum areas, talking with homeless people, and visiting a school for special needs students. Throughout the week, the team experienced changes in scheduled ministry plans due to protests, an earthquake, being stuck inside a van in a 7.5-hour traffic jam with no access to getting out and walking, a different culture, different food, and different traditions. Yet through it all, God made Himself known, with more than 400 people hearing the gospel of Jesus Christ through music, service, gospel proclamation, and love. In addition, Jesus prepared the hearts of more than 30 people to accept Christ as their Savior. Give thanks to the Lord that when the volunteer team left Nairobi and returned to their home nation, Jesus met them in a new way!
http://www.imb.org/sub-saharan-africa/(TAH-mil NAH-doo) - Sarah and Ibrahim are kindhearted, hardworking, devout Muslims in Tamil Nadu, India. They earnestly desire to be good people and to do good to others in accordance with what they see as being "a good Muslim." Earlier this year, they traveled to Mecca, Saudi Arabia, for the Hajj (pilgrimage) after saving their money and preparing. They faithfully brought back dates and "holy water" from their trip to distribute to all their friends and family. Sarah and Ibrahim genuinely want to please Allah and please others. Pray for this couple to realize that no amount of good works will ever get them into a right standing with a Holy God. Ask that they will keenly see their sin and their need for Jesus' sacrifice.
(mah-LONG) - Thank you for praying for Mon and Bai back in July. They spent three months at a farm, learning new agriculture techniques and studying the Bible every day. They not only finished their training, but they both were baptized! Not only Mon and Bai, but also their oldest teenage son. During their training, another Malong believer visited them, and after giving his testimony, Mon and Bai both decided they understood the symbolism of water baptism. Continue to pray for them and their son as they return to their Malong community and share the new farming techniques as well as the stories from their daily teachings from the Word. Ask that their example in obedience would lead other Malong people to faith as well as encourage Mon and Bai to lead groups of Malong believers.
(koo-MAH-oo-nee) - Praise God for a new church plant that is meeting in "Pahadiphal" village! This is a relatively new group of baptized believers who have decided to covenant together as a local body and commit to regular meeting and fellowship. Please pray for their continued growth in the Lord, and pray for their commitment to one another to be strengthened and their love for the lost around them to be deepened through the work of the Holy Spirit.
Last fall, you were asked to pray for a girls' dormitory that was being started by a believing couple to provide safe housing for high school girls from a small, rural town in the Horn of Africa. There's no local high school, so the hope was that the girls could attend school in a nearby town and stay in the dormitory during the weekdays to attend school. God answered your prayers, and about a dozen girls who otherwise would have had no opportunity to further their education were able to start high school. Praise God that all these girls heard the gospel, and several believed and regularly studied the Word together! Pray for these girls' families to come to saving faith in Jesus. When whole families believe, they are strong together, but a young believer without the support of her family becomes vulnerable to persecution. Pray that these girls and their families will become the foundation for a strong, healthy church in their hometown. Ask the Lord to provide all the resources needed to continue this safe haven for another year and allow it to grow by adding another dozen students.
"Our largest mobilization event every year is the gathering of hundreds of healthcare professionals to connect with 40-50 field healthcare workers to learn how the Lord is using healthcare strategies to reach the lost. This year, we will be at Houston's First Baptist Church in Houston, Texas, on September 12-14. Pray that this event will have a deep and persistent impact on the healthcare providers who attend. Ask the Lord to show each participant how He wants to use them in His great kingdom-building task."
www.imb.org/healthcare healthcare@imb.org(BAH-soo-too) - A Great Commission Christian partnering couple asks for prayer for the high school that opened in Lesotho earlier this year. They had serious pushback from the government after another local principal expressed concern about paying students being taken away from their schools. This resulted in the school that this couple started for orphans being temporarily closed for an unknown duration. They will be required to revise and resubmit paperwork that they have been working on for the past several months. They are at the mercy of the people viewing the paperwork. Please pray for favor and against discouragement for the students. They have been amazing in praying and staying focused on what really matters. Their faith and hope is in God as His will is accomplished. "The LORD will fight for you, and you have only to be silent" (Exodus 14:14 ESV).
http://www.imb.org/sub-saharan-africa/ stangieb1990@gmail.com(ah-ZER-ees) - Pray for God to strengthen the pastors and church leaders among the Azeri people. Please also ask Him to raise up more faithful, mature leaders. Pray that He will protect them and their families, as they often face persecution, difficulty in finding jobs, and the loss of family relationships. Pray that these leaders will selflessly and faithfully serve the church through sound biblical teaching and wise shepherding of the people. Ask that they will be obedient to "pay careful attention to [themselves] and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made [them] overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood" (Acts 20:28 ESV).
