Theological Education in Malawi

"Over the past year," writes the Malawi Team, "the Lord has closed some doors and opened others, specifically in the way that we're able to minister in leadership development and theological education. Please ask the Lord to give our team discernment as we pray through and discuss different possibilities for ministry in leadership development and theological education in the future."

Scattered Syrians of the Middle East

There is a lack of believing Syrian men in places where the Word has been spread among Syrian refugees in the Middle East. So often, it is women who are spiritually sensitive or willing to investigate. Please pray that Syrian men in the Middle East will finally come to the end of themselves, be drawn by the Father, have their hearts softened, become curious, and then hear the truth of the gospel clearly. Ask that they will humble themselves, repent, and believe. Beseech the Father to draw men who will boldly and lovingly lead their families to faith. Pray these things in general, but intercede specifically for Abed and his family. "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him" (John 6:44 ESV).

Rumelian Turks of the Balkans

(ru-ME-lee-an) - "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment" (Matthew 22:37-38 ESV). Pray for Rumelian Turks of the Balkans to love God more than anything else--more than money, more than success, more than comfort. Pray for believers whose faith will stand the tests of sin, temptation, and the evil one. Pray for believers who love God more than they love their own lives.

Refugees in South Korea

Please pray for the refugees who bake delicious breads at a bakery that has been in business for more than two years. One of their best customers is a local Christian café. The bakery not only bakes quality bread, but it also serves refugees by providing them with work experience and training in basic business skills. All of this is done with the purpose of meeting the practical needs of refugees and reaching them with the gospel. Please pray for God's wisdom and guidance for the believers who are training and sharing the gospel with the refugees. Pray that they have good relationships with each other and others at the bakery. Pray for the salvation of the refugees, for them to mature in their faith, and for them to adjust well to their new environment.

Peoples of Jharkhand, India

(JAHR-kuhnd) - Pray for the believers in the Ranchi district of Jharkhand. One group of women have begun meeting for discipleship in a predominately Muslim area of a city. As these women learn how to share the gospel and disciple others, pray that they will have a heart for their lost neighbors. Ask that any fears or differences in background will not stop them from reaching their Muslim neighbors and that they will find courage in Jesus. Pray for a second group of women in a village in the Ranchi district who have begun meeting for discipleship. They have been very diligent in sharing, so pray that they will continue to be diligent and will not become discouraged since many people do not want to hear. Pray also for good soil as they go out to share with their friends and neighbors. Ask that many hearts will be softened to hear and receive the gospel.

Northern African and Middle Eastern Unengaged Peoples

The Garre are one of the oldest and most prominent of the Somali clans. There are almost 300,000 Garre, and they all live in southern Somalia. They are nomadic herdsmen who move around to find water and grazing land for their sheep, goats, and camels and are most known for their large, majestic camels. The Garre live in portable huts made by covering bent saplings with animal skins and woven mats. The huts can be easily taken down and loaded onto the backs of camels when the family must move to find water and grazing land. They live in small villages made up of related families, and they all move together. They're loyal to each other and will spread out over the land to be sure that everyone has what they need for their herds. Like all Somali peoples, the Garre are more than 99% Muslim. They spend their lives trying to please Allah so they can spend eternity in paradise. However, they believe that the spirits determine what their earthly life will be like, so the spirits must be appeased. Pray that "repentance and remission of sins should be preached in [Jesus'] name" to all the Garre people (Luke 24:47 NKJV).

Kampala, Uganda

(kahm-PAH-lah) - It was a hot Ugandan day. The sun beat down on the group of American volunteers and Ugandan believers who were sharing the gospel in a Kampala slum. As they walked along rough dirt roads, stopping to talk with street vendors and people sitting outside barber shops, they came across two young women washing clothes in a large plastic basin outside a brothel. A volunteer engaged in conversation with them and quickly built a connection with the two women. She shared a Bible story and revealed to them the deep love of Jesus. After a few minutes, one of the young women turned to Christ as her Savior. The group prayed for her and continued on, leaving the brothel behind them. Would you pray for continued evangelism efforts in this slum? Pray for these young women to find freedom in Christ and freedom from their current occupation. Pray that the brothels will crumble and the kingdom of God will be established in this dark place!

(HOE-chee-men) - "Can you share more about how I can set good core values?" Truc said. She is a recent university graduate, entering the workplace. Truc participated in a business workshop aimed at helping young professionals make better decisions using core values as a guide. After the workshop, she approached a believer to ask about setting good values. She is identifying and wrestling with concepts of purpose and core values in ways she never has before. During this conversation, Truc also heard about Jesus for the first time. She heard about how God created all things and that He had a design and a purpose to everything that He created. During a follow up meeting, Truc shared some very meaningful core values she had thought about and also asked more about what it means to follow Jesus. She has not made the decision to follow Jesus yet. Pray that the Holy Spirit will convict Truc of sin and bring her into saving faith in the One who establishes all things! Please pray for Truc and many other young professionals who are looking for purpose and meaning. Pray that they will find meaning in Jesus!
