Acacia People of Northern Africa

(uh-KAY-shuh) – For more than a year, you have been faithfully praying for Acacia brothers and sisters as they meet overwhelming human needs left by a devastating war while carrying the good news of Jesus to their communities. They’ve encountered thousands of rape and torture victims, widows, orphans, families rocked by destroyed crops, and healthcare systems worsened by a two-year blockade that paralyzed the economy, robbing the Acacia of basic utilities, education, pensions, and employment. Of course, these brave believers have been victims of these same atrocities themselves. Yet they have waded into the aftermath with their message of help and hope, and they report, amazingly, that overall, there is a new openness to their message! It seems that broken hearts are often fertile ground for the gospel. At the end of January, Acacia church leaders from throughout the region gathered to regroup and develop a plan to make the most of this unprecedented openness. Pray that the Holy Spirit will inspire and empower all that He is calling them to do. May God’s kingdom come and His will be done among the Acacia people!
