Angika-Speaking People of Bihar & Jharkhand, India

(ahn-GEE-kah) – A significant portion of those individuals and communities that have come to Christ have been from among “Adivasi” peoples. These people groups are what might be considered native Indians, tracing their lineage back to the original human inhabitants of the Indian subcontinent. Adivasi people tend to be very hospitable, communal, and simple in their way of life and thinking. This has provided fruitful ground for the gospel, for God “gives grace to the humble” (James 4:6 ESV). A tradition of going from house to house singing Christmas carols has developed among many Adivasi Christians. Pray that the same spirit of generous love that causes them to give Christmas greetings to their neighbors will compel these Christians to take the gospel to those outside of their tribe all year round.
