Angika-Speaking People of Bihar & Jharkhand, India

(ahn-GEE-kah) – “The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shone” (Isaiah 9:2 ESV). The majority of people living in Angikaland are Hindus who live in bondage to idols made by human hands, in fear of the dark spirits prowling around the earth, and with no hope outside of the darkness that comes from death. Were it not for the first advent of the Lord Jesus, His followers would be living in darkness just like their Hindu friends in Angikaland do. Pray that just as the light of Christ has shown in their hearts through hearing and believing the good news, so, too, will Hindus in Angikaland hear and receive the light of the gospel. May they be delivered from the great darkness to which their religion enslaves them!
