The Dzalakha (“Za‑la‑ca”) people of Bhutan worship lifeless idols. They continue to work for something with no sure guarantee of receiving it, while what they desire—eternal forgiveness—is offered freely to them. Why? Perhaps it is because of habit, customs, or fear of the unknown. In one town, the Dzalakha believe that if a person reaches the top of a certain mountain, the sins committed up to that point will be forgiven. Few have ever heard of Jesus, who died for their past, present, and future sins. They diligently pursue fleeting peace when lasting peace is only a heart change away. Pray they will understand that Jesus offers what they are seeking, turn to Him, and be saved.
