A Filipino co-worker, Jerry, recently lost his mother. She was a strong and committed follower of Jesus Christ. Baptist representatives visited his home to spend time with the family and offer condolences. In Filipino Christian culture a worship service is held each night during the one-week burial tradition. Jerry mentioned that in years past and deaths of other family members, friends and neighbors often left before the nightly service began. Times have changed. At his mother’s services this year, everyone stayed and listened to the sermons. Jerry remarked, “I know my mother would be so pleased to know that, through her death, many people are hearing the gospel.” Please pray that those who heard the gospel because of a Christian woman’s death will ask questions and seek the truth about Jesus.
