Awadhi Speakers of Northern India and Nepal

(uh-WAH-dee) – Awadhi is a language spoken by a group of people in northern India and Nepal; 3.85 million of them live in India, and 58,500 live in Nepal. The Awadhi language and the Awadhi speakers have contributed a lot to the poetry and literature of India. Within the area inhabited by the Awadhi speakers in India is the city of Ayodhya, which is considered to be the birthplace of a major Hindu god and the setting for many Hindu stories. The area is a very spiritually dark place with lots of temples and pilgrimage sites for Hindus. Please pray for the salvation of the Awadhi speakers.
