Baloch of the Arab Gulf

(buh-LOHCH) – Most Baloch Muslim women don’t have much interest in learning about Christianity. They will allow believers to share Bible stories and will engage in some conversations, but often they don’t want to push deeper. Beth, a believer, was able to meet with her friend Leah recently and began talking to her about heaven. As Beth was telling her why Christians long for heaven, Leah asked if Beth believed that there is one God. When Beth replied, “Yes,” Leah held Beth’s hand and said, “That’s wonderful; you will go to heaven.” They talked some more, and Beth shared about how faith is what saves, not works. While Leah still holds to her beliefs, she heard Beth share about God being her only hope in a world where everything is changing. Beth got emotional as she talked about the challenges of living in the Gulf region and being away from family. Leah told her that they are sisters and that she can always come to her. Give thanks to God for moments of connection that come through vulnerability! Pray for Leah’s heart to be soft, and ask that they can continue to meet and talk about Jesus and the faith that saves.
