Baloch of the Arab Gulf

(buh-LOHCH) – “Like cold water to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country” (Proverbs 25:25 ESV). “Joelle is a doctor in therapy,” Nina brags to her sister. Almost choking on chai (tea), the believer laughs and says to them, “Sister, no I am not.” Nina leans in, “But I think you can help me. You can be my therapist. Dear, my heart is so heavy.” Days pass, and the believer is sitting in the living room of Zoe, another friend. Zoe sits by the believer and shudders, with tears in her eyes. “I’m so depressed. I cannot stop the anxious thoughts. My mind is sick. Is there something you can give me?” Zoe unloads her misfortunes, and the believer sits and listens. Still later, a late-night message dings on the believer’s cell phone. It’s Katie. “Sister, I’m so depressed. I cannot live in this toxic environment anymore.” Each time, Joelle shares the good news of Christ in their heart language. Will Nina, Zoe, and Katie take steps of faith to trust that the Son offers a new life, heart, and mind? Or will they reject the cold water their very parched souls need? Will you pray for Nina, Zoe, and Katie?
